but why can't they hold another referendum (now that they know about the Russian funding and propaganda attacks) and change course to stay in the EU?

I’m thinking that a significant portion of the Conservative party in the U.K. benefited from Russian money just like the GOP here

There's no legal reason not to hold a second, honest, referendum and hope for the only sane result, but there are enough racist clods running around (typically the English countryside) that it's going to get very ugly if there's a second referendum. The morons are already bleating about "voting until the EU gets what it wants again." In the meantime, they remain convinced that every fresh disaster is either fear mongering or due to excessive appeasement of the EU, rather than accepting that their basic premise was plainly insane. It's simply horrifying how little movement there is in the few polls on the subject.

Even at that, the old Remain camp is fracturing into one group which wants a second referendum to try to salvage something, and a second group which thinks a second Brexit vote might prevent fixing the relationship for a generation, so the only way out is through. They hold that we have to take our lumps and destroy the economy before enough of these idiots figure out what a stupid idea Brexit always was. Then we can work for re-admission into the EU, but we'll never get in on terms as good as we had the first time, so the Pound is going bye-bye when that happens, just for starters.

Yes, it's a mess.

the first referendum gave the result the RUSSIANS wanted.

It was a flawed referendum. It should be redone.

That's about all I can really say about them. They're just impervious to facts.

The sooner we as people see what Putin is really doing to us, the sooner we can (and should) haul his ass to the Hague.
