No more rallies, no more tweets, no more constant clips.
If they're not there, there is no story. He will go crazy if he can't see himself on television.
Others have been suggesting this...why don't they just do it? I for one would be thrilled never to see his face again.

(4,835 posts)Nothing ever comes from it...we know its going to be a half hour of stunt lying by SHS.
All she does is come out and in total deadpan - reads the statement - that's it.
The rest is pointless...
The media should have bailed on these events long ago.

That would be like asking YOU to take a pay cut at your job.

(14,532 posts)all you will have is Fox, Alex Jones and the like covering him.
Instead of throwing in the towel, time for the media to double down. Show every crazy f'n thig he does.
as his followers are a minority of a minority the numbers would go down and that, perhaps, would affect a change.

(872 posts)Nothing better than rushing to show clips of someone attacking you and calling you LIARS constantly. Degenerating your entire profession, and using the term Fake News.
Let's show another clip and discuss it for a few minutes.

(13,571 posts)What would we know without them? Not much. Reporters stand between we the people and tyranny. Every freaking day. Jonathan Lemire, AP reporter who questioned Trump at Helsinki, said that Putin was staring him down as he was asking questions. Putin kills journalists.

(32,086 posts)The 65% of the country who have nothing but contempt for him need to stop watching these clown shows, and stop reacting to his antics. I realize he does much of it to stir up his cult followers, but no doubt there's a "Piss off the liberals" aspect to it, as well as a "distract and deflect" aspect.

(2,187 posts)Fux News can have reporter/s there and other networks can use their feed if need be. Wouldn't that make Spanky SO mad? To only see 1 camera?! Hilarious.
Of course, lately when he turns around to clap at people behind him, it'll soon take 2 cameras to get all of his 2was in the shot. Put down the Big Mac and for heavens sake, only give him 1 scoop of ice cream.

(35,454 posts)as recently as this morning's Morning Joe that they do exactly that, a pool reporter and one camera at all rallies.

(13,582 posts)Seems to me if the media wants to claim their mantle as the forth estate, they have a responsibility to only report facts. Nothing more nothing less. The benefit of silence on Donnys insane rants is two fold. First, it lowers the political temperature for everyone, and second, it would drive the idiot in the White House bat shit crazy to not see himself in the headlines every hour in the hour.
Grasswire2
(13,571 posts)It's simply their job to report facts, as you say. You are urging them to politicize their coverage by withholding. And what is this about "wants to claim their mantle"? The power of the press is a little more complicated than that.

(35,454 posts)they are covering lies at the rallies, briefings and so on and so forth. For the sake of the country, how much exposure does a lie need?
Grasswire2
(13,571 posts)I'm seeing the lies refuted constantly by television coverage after the rally, briefing, whatever is covered. Constantly.

(13,571 posts)Because Cuomo's segment on Weds night about Trump lies took my breath away (as an example). It was so bold, and so direct and plain spoken...
And everything on MSNBC is also very direct. Not just Nicole. Unfortunately, she has a way of laughing through stories and that bugs me. That's a sign of advancing totalitarianism, when everything is so outrageous that the populace laughs in their shock at events.

(24,764 posts)He suggested the MSM should ignore his rallies, tweets, and other unhinged rants; they only serve to feed his insatiable appetite for attention, as well as his massive ego.
The media has to cover the president, but the gentleman (I forgot his name) said coverage should be limited to his duties.

(463 posts)I don't watch cable news at all, so I never see a smidgeon of what people here and elsewhere on the Internet do.
If people stop watching, the media will find something else to do.
As long as the Trump disaster gets eyeballs, that's what they'll promote.

(90,714 posts)And don't forget half a dozen bodyguards, because of the mobs.
Same with Sarah Huckster's pressers, minus the bodyguards.
We are entitled to accurate reportage, including descriptions of Mussolini-type rallies and pressers that are propaganda statements. But it doesn't take a lot of reporters for that, and reporters should not be subjected to threats and abuse.
Our journalists are already doing great work digging for the truth without any help from Sarah or Red Don.
I'd LOVE to see Sarah's face the first time she looks out on a 99% empty press room.

(650 posts)The media covered trump as a joker in 2016. Now we realize that joke was on us all. The victim is America as he turned into
a real destructive and dangerous lunatic.
Now the media that created the demon has
to fully engage in performing the needed
exorcism.

You can find out everything he's doing from the tweets. We don't require some stupid cow to explain it. He loses his props and it's harder for him to play the victim.

(42,714 posts)Would it really be better if his constant lying wasn't shown to the world? The media can't report on it if they don't show it. And apart from the cable news channels and C-SPAN, the "media" doesn't break away from their programming to show his rallies. It gets covered on the nightly news, and most of the time these days, the news points out what he has said or done that is controversial or nonsensical.
Should Colbert, Myers, Kimmel, etc. also simply stop commenting on what Trump has said or done?
Me.
(35,454 posts)But they don't need a crowd scene to record what's he's saying nor his tweets. He lives for the coverage and what would he do if he didn't have the audience he craves as he struts and preens onstage?

(23,957 posts)and he engages daily in scandals that would have brought down any other presidency in flames by now. the media is obliged to cover his bullshit for the sake of consistency if nothing else.
let's hope he's ushered out the door sometime well before 2024, and his behavior becomes reviled rather than normalized.
