Court filing: Of 2,551 children ages 5-17 originally identified as being separated from parents, 572 remain in the custody of HHS.
Of those, 410 have parents who were deported and 68 have parents released into the US with whom contact has not yet been made - @JuliaEAinsley

They're apparently missing somehow after they stepped on us soil. Where are they if not deported or released?

Or that there were other safety concerns (i.e. people claiming to be parents that may not have been).
Not sure what the number was in that category or how that is all currently being sorted out.
