Seems she married in Czechoslovakia and received immigration papers to Canada. Once in Canada, she divorced sham husband. As she was an avid skier, she would cross over the Canada/US border to ski at Jay Peak, where she found the ski conditions there much better than she was accustomed to in Europe. She subsequently became a ski instructor at Jay Peak, working illegally since she didn't have proper authorization. After a couple of years, she then moved from
Montreal to NYC, where she met tRump.

Donald Trump and Ivana, 1985
In 1976, Zelníčková met Donald Trump in New York City. On April 7, 1977, they married in a lavish wedding officiated by Norman Vincent Peale.[7]
Nine months minus one week after the wedding to DJT (12/31/77), Ivana gave birth to Donald Jr...her first anchor baby. Thus, cementing her as just the type of immigrant that Donny Sr. now abhors.

(21,639 posts)A woman walks into a bookstore in, say, Prague, and asks the clerk if they have any good reads come in recently.
"Why yes!" the clerk says. "We just got Ivana Trump's biography For Love Alone, in which she shares how she left Czechoslovakia and eventually married a New York real estate magnate."
"Oh," the customer says. "I wasn't looking for a self-help book."

Ivanka Trump said she "vehemently" opposed Donald Trump's family separation policy but added that her own mother "came here legally." But what if that isn't totally true? Lawrence explains the questions raised over Ivanka Trump's mother's immigration history.
