Shelby Co is a separate political entity from Memphis city, even though Shelby Co is comprised of essentially Memphis and the suburbs.

I lived in Memphis for a few years and the division is totally political. TN is a funny state with things like that. Nashville is a metro, so while Davidson Co has communities around "Nashville Proper" the city technically starts at the county line.

Shelby County was always red when I lived there, even though the city was blue. This is amazing news.

7. I Was In Tennessee Last Week, And Let Me Tell You, The Political Ads Were Horrifying

Literally every ad I saw on TV, one candidate was bashing the other by saying, "I support Trump more than he does," or, "I'm more Pro-Life and Pro-Gun than they are." It was really disgusting, because I don't think I saw a single ad for a Democrat the entire week I was there.

11. I Did See An Ad For Bredeson, And He Seemed Good

I just assumed he was a Republican, because literally ALL we saw were Republican ads. But when his ad came on, my wife and I both went, "Man, that guy sounds kinda reasonable. He doesn't sound like these other Republicans at all."
