Jim Acosta just let loose on CNN and said he has had it

Last edited Thu Aug 2, 2018, 02:51 PM - Edit history (1)

In an impassioned talk with Brooke, he gave an honest assessment of how this administration has attached his lifes work. Worth watching when posted.

on twitter i just replied to this tweet

One of the most disengenuous events I’ve witnessed. @Acosta asked repeatedly about us being the enemy of the people and SHS repeats a laundry list of slights and her need for SS protection. 5 dead in Annapolis.

by saying the entire press corps should stop showing up and just tell their readers/watchers that they can deliver the news better without the propaganda. i'm not the only one making the suggestion.

imagine she gets up there for daily or weekly or whatever press conference and nobody's there saying "Sarah, Sarah"

They ALL should stop attending these sham bulkshit “briefings.” It’d be GREAT to see her sashay out to the podium for her next round of insults, lies, condescensions, and obfuscations - and find NOBODY there.

When that CNN reporter was singled out for punishment and barred from the next press event, they all should have boycotted.

They REALLY need to stand up and be defiant and NOT knuckle under to the bullshit for another nanosecond. Otherwise there are no consequences for this shit. And no reason not to keep punishing the press.

You do NOT reward or reinforce bad behavior!!! Any dedicated and responsible parent knows that.

Enjoyed when Sarah Sanders complained that there was no national coverage of Trumpie’s Tampa rally. Gives us a clue that not covering them is having an impact. Media just needs to send a pool reporter to the daily press briefings. She never answers the questions, just reads from a scripted list, so why bother.

Neither should his stumping for Repug candidates, which should only be covered by the local media in the area affected. These always end up all about Trump, and his spewing hatred. If he can't stick to important national or world topics, reporters should just walk out. No previous president has started out campaigning the day after inauguration. And he's always in the nastiest possible campaign mode at that. He shows no respect for other national or world leaders except despots like Putin. Why should we expect him to be even a little courteous to journalists? Trump's a sick man and reporters should NOT pander to him, and follow Jim Acosta's example. I don't know how Acosta keeps civil, which he has always been while still persisting. It's his job.

stop begging for mercy from those interested only in our demise, and start acting like people facing the most pressing existential threat in our modern history. A threat, I might add, from within our own country, nay, from within our own illegally occupied white house. These trumpist call the press the enemy of the people because they want them to feel threatened. The press is only a metaphor for ANYONE who disagrees with the incompetence, criminality and frankly traitorous behavior of the trumpsters. And the trumpsters want us, those who find these trumpsters abominable and deplorable without any redeeming qualities, to feel as well so terrified that we simply wilt and submit to their malevolent demands. They will show no mercy, so why do so many reasonable people still afford them a certain respect and decorum that is normally reserved for those who actually care for our country? Liberals, Progressives, it's time to recognize for certain just what is happening. It's not going to be ok. This is not "just a phase". We are NOT just an election away of ridding ourselves of this disease. It's time to place steel in one's back, straighten the knee, recognize just what needs to be done and do it.

Be on the lookout for key words and phrases that can and should be repeated. Words like “treason” and “traitor” and “collusion” and phrases like “aid and comfort to the enemy.” There are some good lines just upthread in The Liberal Lion’s post, just for one example. Lots of usable material just here on DU.

Repeat that stuff. Notice how, all of a sudden many reporters and show hosts are now using the words ”collusion” and “conspiracy” more openly and often? Notice how serious the talk is getting and the phrasing that’s becoming more common?

The table is now being set. No reason not to help it along!

PERCEPTION MANAGEMENT. Do it! Help it also whenever you can!
And if you haven’t yet connected with your local Indivisible group, DO THAT TOO!

34. MESSAGING, nolabear. My husband came up with an OUTSTANDING one just this morning:
Fri Aug 3, 2018, 11:06 AM
Aug 2018

FAKE pResident.

FAKE pResident.

FAKE pResident.

(and, note, repeat it. Repeat it at least THREE TIMES.

He's bent on brainwashing to get his message out there, and into susceptible brains. So WE need to do the exact same thing. REPEAT. DRILL IT IN. REPEAT. And then, REPEAT SOME MORE!

It's a messaging device, and I think we all have to get a lot more savvy about it, and use it as a very large and important tool in our toolbox. Especially since our Dems don't seem to be so good at it yet. That only mean IT'S UP TO US. So let's do it and take the lead.

MESSAGING. It's CRITICAL! Critical to PERCEPTION MANAGEMENT, which is, frankly, all this is. You're managing other people's perception. What they perceive.

FAKE pResident.

FAKE pResident.

FAKE pResident.

A small additional note. I spelled the word "president" with a small p and a capital R. That's for the eyes, not the ears. When it's written, I want readers to see the "Resident" in the word "president." So - "pResident." Because you are accurately describing him. He unfortunately IS a RESIDENT of OUR White House. Doesn't belong there, though, because he's FAKE. His "pResidency" is FAKE. His WHOLE pResidency is FAKE. FAKE FAKE FAKE. Because his election was FAKE. His election was illegitimate as hell, and we need to start pushing THAT messaging, TOO!

That's also his Achilles Heel. All this shit we see playing out from him stems from not only his own basic insecurity (which is why he craves attention and praise and worship all the damn time), but also his deep-seated fear that his pResidency is illegitimate. His win was illegitimate. His victory in the 2016 was ILLEGITIMATE. Because the Russians engineered it. Vladimir Putin put his own damn thumb on the scale and tipped it for trump. Vladimir Putin even confirmed it, personally, when asked about it at that embarrassing press conference in Helsinki. Asked point-blank by the Reuters guy if he A) wanted trump to win and B) if he helped trump win. And he said - twice - "yes I did. Yes I did." He repeated that confirmation TWICE.

I'm listening to that idiot on a repeat soundbite of him in Pennsylvania last night. "Fake Fake Disgusting News?" How 'bout we snatch that talking point right outta his mouth, hijack the damn thing, and turn it around on him so it works for us! Use his own words against him! How does "Fake Fake Disgusting pResident" sound, 'eh?

THIS is what we should start doing, in earnest, and whenever the opportunity presents itself, either written or verbal. Either when talking about it with friends, OR writing it in a letter to the editor or a post on a blog site or discussion board or chat room.

START MANAGING PERCEPTION!!!! And if you repeat it often enough, it sinks in. Advertisers have known this FOREVER. Frank Luntz and George Lakoff and other messaging experts have known this for a long time. Speechwriters have known this. REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT.

Think of it this way: when you use a screwdriver or a drill, you don't just turn that screwdriver once, do you? You don't just press that button on that power drill once. You keep the pressure on that button. You keep turning that screwdriver. And what happens when you do that? The screw is driven in, fully, nice 'n' tight. Takes a little while. Takes longer than just one little press on the button or one turn of that screwdriver. But that's what gets the job done.
