(21,946 posts)overlap between the two will be devastating to Trump & Co. One is above the surface, the other is below what the public can see. But they are very closely related.

The -prosecutor isn't asking him questions that they don't already know the answer to. And the accountant isn't going in with a goal of protecting Trump. He is on the hot seat.

Its long been speculated that Mueller has the tax returns. No way to know for sure but if hes going to bring in the accountant for questioning, Id guess hed have to have gotten them.

(32,712 posts)...but it's also possible that the tax forms won't say anything about the hush money that Michael Cohen paid to the women. I'm sure they have it disguised in a footnote somewhere on the profit & loss statements.
It's also possible that Weisselberg wasn't even told about the payments. They had Cohen handling everything under the table, so the Trump Organization could maintain plausible deniability.
On the other hand Weisselberg would surely know about the money laundering and secret cash deals with the Russians, so his testimony is still important.

(73,581 posts)Mr. Mueller knows already what has been omitted. He and his team do not ask any questions that they do not already know the exact answer to in the grand jury format.

(6,913 posts)When the friend of the subject of my trial said she gave the subject advice, and said she had graduated from lawyer school, I just had to ask which particular lawyer school.
It was kinda amusing watching her waffle for awhile before allowing that it might not have been exactly a law school she went to.

(21,946 posts)(He is testifying in connection with the Cohen case)
Allen Weisselberg, a top Trump Organization official and the company's longtime chief financial officer, has been subpoenaed to testify as part of the ongoing criminal investigation into President Donald Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the investigation.
The Journal reported that it is unclear whether Weisselberg has gone before a grand jury, when the subpoena was issued and what exactly prosecutors want to ask him, but that he is considered to be a witness in the probe.

(24,312 posts)is how little money there really is. I'm of the opinion that he's hocked up to his eyeballs to the point where his net worth is a negative number, and it has been for years.
He's got a few properties generating some cash flow, but in total he owns nothing.

(5,810 posts)Of long ago. Thats tRump. It was his strategy for keeping his empire afloat by loans and living on them and strategic manipulation of the monies he got by hook or crook. Now it is his strategy for keeping the whole thing from falling in on him and his family of thugs and thieves. So he runs around like a crazy man trying to distract and to deceive the public with tweets and quick and dirty comments as he is about to board a helicopter. He tries to appear too cool for school but the word is leaking out that behind the scenes in the White House he is a seething cauldron of rage and irritability.
The plates he has spent years spinning are wobbling and he is running out of space to give them a spin to keep them going a little while longer. Mueller is closing in on the truth and tRump isnt privy to all the information already in Muellers treasure trove of fatal facts that will bury tRump in a blizzard of unavoidable trouble. It is driving him crazy (crazier?) and there is not much he can do about it. Yes, there are things he COULD do but those things will only bring more trouble. So as he sees his ways out blocked, his behavior is only going to get stranger and more erratic. Pop some corn, fellow DUers. This show is going to get a lot more interesting, really quick.

(37,648 posts)This is exciting, gotta say. I'll be surprised if this guy doesn't hold the golden key to all the fraud.
Of course, HE would be charged with a crime, too. So it's possible he'll try to lie. Won't work, but he might try. These guys don't know the truth when it hits them in the face. Their lies have been accepted by so many for so long, that they may not understand the jig is up.

(11,885 posts)They already know, and have him caught up in it all, also, so his only way out is to flip to stay out of prison, trump has to know that and is freaking out because he knows its over, and on all fronts. He won't win , and when they expose all he's allowed to be done to these children even his die hard supporters will turn and demand he gets the max penalties for it all.

(1,115 posts)I know that phrase is redundant. But we have to be patient.
Witnesses will be held accountable for everything they say say
and they do not know what Mueller knows so they are liable
to open a new can of worms (unintentionally) because of fears
of perjury.
Everyone of us are speculating but Mueller knows.

(8,200 posts)The striking thing about Trump is the remark of his ghost writer who spent many hours with him. He remarked that the Trump had no hesitation in bilking people since he was a man without a conscience. He had no regrets in hiring someone and then refusing to pay them. He didn't hesitate to lie about someone to get an advantage. Trump is as vicious as any tyrant and would throw his kids to the wolves at the drop of a hat.
