As I recall - the indictments were very specific and detailed with the information Mueller's team learned about this hacking - right down to the names of the Russian individuals that did the hacking and the techniques they used.
That should have been a shot across the bow of the Russians to let them know just how good our intelligence is when investigating this hacking and should have raised red flags to Russia with respect to any future hacking. Basically - that they could be caught red handed and that if they tried to hack future elections - that we're on to them and could most likely catch them in the act.
Because of this - I'm surprised that we're hearing reports again that the Russians are at it again for 2018.
Have the Russians learned how to get around our intelligence or are they just that stupid that they would try it again?
I guess another explanation is that even these 12 that were indicted - will never be brought to justice - so what the heck - let's just do it again.

(26,757 posts)The methods identified were clumsy enough (and from the lesser Russian intelligence service) that we may only know what they wanted us to know.
For all we know... they're sitting there saying "looks like they didn't catch anything the SVR did... press on while they waste time on the GRU!"

(46,166 posts)The Russians see this as a green light, imo. The Republicans appear to be working hand in hand with the Russians. Or perhaps unlocking the doors and lighting the way? So the Russians keep at it.
