A few days ago, it was reported that the Congress voted down money that would help protect our votes. Obviously, some do not take it very seriously.
But, for most citizens, it is a very serious matter, that they maintain the integrity in our voting system.
At this time, there is no more important issue than preserving our right to vote and to have our votes tallied honestly and fairly. We must have faith, that in a democracy, the people have the potential to govern themselves and to count votes fairly.
Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.

"What! bring ourselves down to an Equality with the Beasts of the Field! with the meanest part of the Creation! 'Tis insufferable!" But, (to use a Piece of common Sense) our Geese are but Geese tho' we may think 'em Swans; and Truth will be Truth tho' it sometimes prove mortifying and distasteful."

(9,512 posts)...why hasn't the democratic party done more since 2000?
It should have been issue # 1 after bush v gore, issue # 1 and 2 after kerry in ohio, and issue # 1,2, and 3 after trump.
This is a MAJOR failure of the leadership.

(10,437 posts)here in america, a minority of americans want to take away that basic right with all sorts of roadbloacks. Can the federal govt do more? Hell yes. Can the Federal Courts do more? Hell yes....but not when righwing ideologues are in control. Taking back our govt is one step, we need to take back the court system too.
Our entire system of voting in national elections need a total revamp. Starting with making the election day a national holiday, REQUIRE early voting in all states of no less than 2 weeks and requiring a minimum number of voting machines and polling stations in each and every precinct based on residents.
