My wife is on Facebook. I am not. But saw an entry that Trump wants the government to take away citizenship if you burn a flag. So I guess you would be deported to who knows where after leaving jail if he had it his way. I am sure that the GOP and RW churches would enthusiastically support such a law.
You know every day the political situation gets weirder and more scary.

Since burning is prescribed as a respectful means of disposal, does that mean that's no longer allowed? Then how do we dispose of old tattered flags? Also, will other ways of disrespecting the flag incur the same penalty, like flying it on your pickup truck's antenna in the rain or until it becomes tattered and ragged? Or flying it at the same height as the Confederate flag?
What is a flag, anyway? Is a flag made of paper a flag? Is burning a magazine with a picture of a flag on it a crime? Is burning an envelope with a flag postage stamp on it a crime?
This is what you get when you govern by bumper sticker.

There are far more pressing things to worry about than Trump's old nonsense tweets. There are new nonsense tweets.

(13,883 posts)flag burning is protected as free speech under our Constitution. I have a feeling this is going to become a big Republican issue in the upcoming elections.

I am referring to the US flag code, which says that when a flag is worn out, the preferred disposal method is by burning.
