21st July is Belgium National Day

Belgium, officially the Kingdom of Belgium, my sweet little pocket handkerchief

Excerpt from Wikipedia:

Belgium is a developed country, with an advanced high-income economy. The country achieves very high standards of living, life quality,[21] healthcare,[22] education,[23] and is categorized as "very high" in the Human Development Index.[24] It also ranks as one of the safest or most peaceful countries in the world.[25]

11,787 sq m, 3 official languages : Dutch, French,German, population +/- 11,350,000.

Coat of arms :

Motto :

"Eendracht maakt macht" (Dutch)
"L'union fait la force" (French)
"Einigkeit macht stark" (German)
"Unity makes Strength"

Anthem, I picked this video because the anthem is translated :

A few pics and videos of our National Day :

EU Council greetings in a short video with a brief timeline of Belgium history :

Crowd Belgian Royal Place :

Grand Place by night :

Flower Carpet: an ephemeral show in the heart of my "Hellhole". It is organized each 2 years.
Each edition illustrates a different theme (the commemoration of major events, a country, a continent, the coat of arms of a city, etc.). This year on August, 16, the Carpet Flower will be devoted to a Mexican region, Guanajuato. it is a coincidence, but boy ! I love it !

Pics from previous editions :

The Atomium, constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair (Expo 58) :

Typical Belgian dish : stuffed tomatoes with shrimp mayonnaise and of course, our famous frites !

A wink to our American friends

21 July is also about folklore, we "honored" Trump with a parade as he likes them so much :

Sometimes, Satan hides in details (wrong depiction of the flag)

This year, it was particular as it is the 100-year anniversary of WWI end. The parade was very colorful and international

We took our American flag down after the surrender of Helsinki. We bought flags of all our allies and fly them whenever they get insulted by Trump. We just hoisted the Belgian flag for the day in honor of their celebration.

Thank you.

I don't think you are less civilized. The US is like 50 countries reunited. It can't be ruled as a small country with little population.

But there are fields that need to be seriously improved : education and healthcare. Even if each state has its own rules, these 2 fields should only be under federal jurisdiction.
