Butina's lawyer says she couldn't be a spy because she was

on Twitter talking to the person who was handling her. And, doing everything in public. I'm shocked Anderson Cooper did not take this absurd statement to task. It's called "hiding in plain sight". I've done that very thing myself when someone accused me of something behind my back at my job. I'm not admitting to anything and this issue was sonething minor. Just kept doing the same thing. Changed nothing. Nothing was ever said to me by my boss. Though some folks gave me strange looks. I will not admit to anything but eventually the subject went away.
So. I know hiding in plain sight works.

That doesn't mean you're not a spy, it just means you're lousy at being a covert spy. RockRaven Jul 2018 #1
Isn't this just like saying Rump didn't collude because his collusion is too obvious? ProudLib72 Jul 2018 #2

The thing about espionage that is illegal isn't the secrecy aspect.

Seems to me this has been the game plan all along. And you know what? It seems like his base buys it. So I believe you may be on to something.

Wonder whether she made "evidence" to keep her lovers in line. Honestly, she sounds like a pretty dumb spy, actually made an offer to a guy of sex for access, there were much more effective ways that she could have compromised him and got what she wanted.
