A viral image suggests that the late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain hinted at a future Donald Trump presidency over 20 years before it happened.twitter.com/ufpnation
FALSE
On 30 July 2016, the pro-Donald Trump Facebook page Trump Train posted an image of the late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain overlaid with a message ostensibly uttered by him in 1993 endorsing Donald Trump for president:
The Trump Train Facebook page didnt provide any information about where Cobain allegedly made this prediction (e.g., in an interview, as part of a television appearance, during a concert) and noted only that it he supposedly uttered it sometime in 1993. We found no record of the Nirvana singers saying anything like the statement attributed to him by that page in 1993 (or any other year).
This quote appears to have originated with the Trump Train Facebook post of 30 July 2016, made long after Cobains 1994 death by suicide. (In addition to the dubious citation, the image also incorrectly spells Cobains given name as Curt rather than Kurt.)

(463 posts)Cobain wasn't a prophet. It's written into every history book ever on Western History.
The people who are surprised surprise. Really? You didn't see this coming? At all?
I don't expect everyone to be a history major, but it was apparently a tall order for our self-appointented commentariat to know.
Trump succeeds because politicians failed. Power failed. So you have a lot of people running around making choices based on their feelings.
And look where that's getting us.
But let's pretend none of us hold no responsibility for any of this. That'll make things better.
Trump is an inexpressed id. A nasty one in many ways. But an id of a frustrated Republic nonetheless. We ignore and dismiss that and feel superior to that at our peril. You can be smarter. Many of us are. But, where you have voters, newp. You'll fuck yourself, then wonder why.

(6,395 posts)...you bring out snopes and wing-nuts have already dismissed it as a "liberal" website. They will believe the meme no matter how untruthful because its what they want to hear/read....self validation.

And if not Curt Cobain, it sounds totally like something my other friend would have said, Curt Kobain.
