(58,724 posts)Be curious to see what happens after Tucker/Hannity and the evening crew run their interference - followed by the smiling faces on Fox & Friends tomorrow morning.

(16,104 posts)For a sitting U.S. president to say publicly that he believes a foreign leader over his own intelligence team is shocking and admonishable. At a time when our democracy faces grave threats, it is deeply troubling that the president would side with the very country who attacked us.

(58,724 posts)I predict Fox News flips quickly back towards Trump boot-licking, beginning with Tucker, Hannity, and the evening crew - and carrying over to tomorrow morning Fox & Friends.
If I'm wrong, that would be amazing.

(58,724 posts)Clearly going with the "Democrats are acting hysterical over nothing" angle.

(15,805 posts)Cavato was the host, I don't know the guests, but they all seemed pretty much on the same page and being critical of Trump for siding with Putin over the USA. I was actually surprised.

(58,724 posts)It will be about how hysterical the Democrats and "left-wing media" are acting.

(5,955 posts)they hadn't prepared their talking points. Basically, they used all their 'Trump is tougher on Russia than Obama was' talking points BEFORE the meeting. They're frantically writing new talking points for Hannity as we speak. So, they'll no doubt have a full-on tsunami of bullshit hitting their moronic audience, all the way from Tucker, to Hannity, to Ingraham, and then Fux and Fiends in the morning.
The House and Senate Republicans are having an emergency meeting about what to say, but they'll no-doubt get a memo from Fox on what to say. So, they'll all be on the same page.
Tomorrow will tell whether this is a tipping point or not.
But I would expect Bolton and Pompeio to stay well away from TV cameras for awhile. Somebody might ask them if they agree with Trump's stance.

(58,724 posts)Look at his actions, much tougher than Obama, everyone is getting hysterical over nothing, blah blah blah.

(5,955 posts)Whatabout Obama saying "Tell Vladimir I'll be more flexible after the election."
Whatabout Obama not bombing Syria after the RED LINE comment.
Whatabout Hillary wanting to do a RESET with Russia?
Whatabout how the LEFT used to LIKE Russia?
and...
Ooh! Despite is (pathetic) WORDS, Trump is actually much tougher on Russia than Obama was. ie-him selling anti-tank missiles to Ukraine (forgetting that his campaign originally took that policy out of the GOP platform at the convention; and only agreed to sell Ukraine arms in (secret) exchange for not expediting witnesses for the Manafort trial.
and OHH! LOOK AT THE LEFT WING MEDIA, and how THEY'RE reporting this!
Fox News seriously makes me want to vomit.

(58,785 posts)the need to "avoid an accidental war" from "our planes are flying in the same air space" and thus he commended Trump for "taking this meeting."
Cavuto is now broaching the question of a compromised Trump for the clear purpose of double-teaming that idea into oblivion with Paul.
And I'm gone!
