This is MY own opinion and I have felt for.....LONG...that russians will go after the Baltics. That trump is part of it following putin's orders by weakening NATO... etc etc.. you all know.....
I read an article on my cell a couple hours ago... thought I saved it. but can not find it.. it was LONG....on the view of Estonians in general, and what a living hell they would make it for and russians who invaded, etc etc,.,.
Can anyone find the article????
I think it was within the last few days.
I've GOOGLED.. no luck..

(4,192 posts)I tell you, visions of ruling the world with an iron fist just doesn't get the respect it used to.
Because respecting human rights is just so *hard*! It puts crooks at a disadvantage.

(24,324 posts)But if trump can, with putin's own long time efforts, and at putin's, direction, do enough to damage the alliance, which he already is by rather quickly separating the US....
I mean, in my view, this is a big part of the reason the russians set up trump to begin with....

(37,748 posts)...than their Georgian anschluss or their Crimean invasion as Estonia has been part and part of NATO for almost fifteen years.
And though the current administration in Washington may minimize and trivialize another military incursion by Moscow as much ado about nothing, the European states, directly threatened by Russia, would be forced take a much more hard-line position in honoring their NATO commitments under Article 5 (an attack against one NATO ally is considered as an attack against all NATO allies).

(24,324 posts)Putin/trump, as you say, already have caused a huge fissure between the US and the European members of NATO(Canada incl), but.. they are also working to develop cracks between the other members of NATO, and it looks like it is having some effect.
I mean look at the success the right wingers are making in too many countries-- Hungary, Netherlands, Norway, Germany, France, on and on...
I am NOT expert, historian, or political wizz--- just..... looking and seeing what I see and not optimistic...

From the Politico article:
Trump's focus on defense spending misses that some allies like Estonia not only meet spending commitments but also shoulder a disproportionate amount of the ideological burden of NATOthe willingness to fight.
