(4,787 posts)...There are 13 very experienced cave rescue divers there from other countries, who cannot be replaced by a standard diver. The standard divers are very involved but cave divers are the ones bringing the kids through the narrow submerged tunnels. One round trip takes almost a day.
They haven't gotten underway yet today, though. The reporters there aren't sure why, and are waiting for an announcement.

(17,184 posts)It's a bit after 1pm in Thailand. If they restarted the rescue first thing this morning, something might be happening soon. I believe it takes 5 or 6 hours to bring each kid out.

(2 posts)Ive been looking all over the web trying to find why they havent gone back in to get more boys.
Youd think that they could have asked other countries ahead of time for more air tanks so they wouldnt have to wait to refill those.
The divers need to sleep, fine, but its been 24 hours now so that should have been enough time to refill air tanks, place them in the cave again, and for the divers to rest. Hopefully other divers can take care of putting the oxygen tanks back along the route.
On CNN a military leader talked to them this afternoon and said they hadnt launched another rescue attempt because they were still in meetings.
The Prime Minister is supposed to arrive at the cave today, I really hope they havent just been waiting on him because its been raining today, which will make things harder. Thailand is 14 hours ahead of my time zone, Pacific.
I read on one news source they brought the strongest out first but on another source they said they brought the weakest out first. I really hope theyll all be okay.

(206,014 posts)On its website CNN just posted that they talked with a Thai Navy official who has knowledge of the situation that the rescue divers have gone back in to get more people.
That CBS report that was linked in this thread says the coach was one of the ones who was brought out w the first group, I hadnt heard that before. It also said families were only finding out the names of who has come out already from the media, no one has told them anything officially yet.
