This is what happens when you stay away from 24 hour tv news:

Someone at book club made a comparison to Batman, and I thought she was talking about the movie, not the massacre!

I'm not really out of it, but I tend to take the long view (global climate change, high rate of shootings in our cities every day for example) rather than get caught up in the latest story of the moment.

The ending was classic Steven King; "Haha, I made you read 400 pages for no payoff!"

It's the first and only book I have actually put in the garbage. And I have sworn off reading more of his work since. I'll keep some of the books of his I enjoy (Eyes of the Dragon, Desperation / The Regulators, The Talisman, etc) but I'll be damned if I'm paying for any more.
