WASHINGTONIn response to the shooting death of six Sikh worshippers at a temple in Oak Creek, WI yesterday, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) offered a public expression of her thankfulness that no Americans had been killed in the rampage. "It's a relief and a blessing that not a single American died in this event," Bachmann said of the incident that claimed the lives of six Americans who practice the Sikh faith. "All of us can be grateful for that. Had the gunman targeted a church or synagogue, this violent act could have been much, much worse.

(65,357 posts)extreme satire like that, which should be funny, is not funny at all, because it comes so close to ugly realiity.

(3,709 posts)Nothing would surprise concerning Michele Bachmann....nothing. I'm embarrassed that I could think that Bachmann or anyone could say that.

(22,165 posts)The ridiculous notion that folk that trace their ancestry to anywhere but Europe (I am sure the irony is not lost on the indigenous people of the Americas) aren't "Americans" is held by too many folk.
Now I can read the article and hopefully laugh

but i really thought it was real . didn't even consider it wasn't until i saw the link.
I wasn't even in shock. I would totally expect a statement like this from her.
Hell I was ready to search for the video.
Sadly, that says a great deal about the state of this Country

Perhaps with the redistricting we can finally flush her.

(22,165 posts)... of "half" Indian children ... you would be surprised how many idiots ask "what" my children are ... because apparently their American father of Indian (the subcontinent) descent and their mother of Irish -Scot descent (my ancestors immigrated to this continent in the 1770s) can't produce "Americans" through their coupling.

I honestly did not question that Batshit didn't say that.

(53,661 posts)Thanks for the clarification. I still would just LOVE for someone to ask Batshit about this shooting, in a neutral way, to see if she'll do an Alex Jones routine.
Because she's deep into conspiracies. He says the Sikh shooting is part of Obama's plan to bring about martial law. Like he also said the shooting in Aurora was for Obama to take the guns away.
Interesting he promotes the Koch family views on things such as the John Birch Society, the Libertarian and Tea Parties, and Ron Paul, but never mentions their names. Neither do the others. They are virulently anti-Obama.
There are more of these folks out there than many Democrats want to admit. My latest voter pamphlet had a bunch of new people running for office, all of them spouting the same stuff as Alex. I say let Bachmann say it all. She's unable to hold back. I find that endearing and rather crazy at the same time.

(67,782 posts)instead of posting the title as the OP did, he/she should have have said so in the title. There was NO mention of it being from Onion on the Home Page or title.
This is what people first opening this site see on the Home Page:

And NO MENTION of it being satire. Posting it that way was deceiving and the REPUBLICAN thing to do!!

(8,556 posts)Michele Bachmann isn't just some woman off the street. She's a politician who has managed to get elected to Congress and stay there. While gaffes do happen in Congress, this type of gaffe almost never does. Any Congressperson saying something like this would probably get hammered out of office over it.

(27,985 posts)She's clearly delusional, has a closeted gay husband who she may not even know is gay (I doubt it, but she doesn't have that many marbles running around in that delusional head of hers). I'm always amazed when they send teh crazy back to Washington. Sane people would send her to a sanitarium and a good psychiatrist. So, I find her election and re-election confusing.
