Fox News Admits That Many Conservatives Are Now Supporting Democrats

According to Fox News, the list of conservative Republicans who now say they will be voting for Democrats in this year’s midterm elections is getting longer, but they are clueless as to why this is happening.

In an article called “Divorcing Trump: Why some conservatives are now pushing Democrats (!)“ Howard Kurtz explores this puzzling phenomenon in depth as he attempts to come up with explanations.

Well, it’s actually not puzzling to most Americans, but it is certainly something that is not understood by the viewers of Fox News.

Kurtz does a good job of listing the very prominent (former) conservative Republicans who have become so disgusted by Donald Trump and his cult-like followers that they have now proclaimed their support of Democratic candidates.

The list includes:

Max Boot,
George Will,
Jennifer Rubin,
Steve Schmidt,
Nicole Wallace, and
Joe Scarborough.

All of these people are not only very prominent but also very visible in the media, denouncing Trump and his policies.

snip//

The “record-high support among Republicans” that Kurtz refers to doesn’t include the millions of people who no longer consider themselves Republicans. The only people left in the Republican Party are Trump supporters, and this simple fact is enough to spell doom for the Grand Old Party as it lurches toward extinction.

Republicans are in trouble across the nation. As I mentioned below, two Republicans in blood-red Kansas, a state the Kochs are supposed to have a stranglehold on, are now in danger of losing to Democratic challengers. Unheard of!

but caucuses and votes with the Republicans. I am working on the campaign of a life long Democrat that has an opponent that recently switched parties and is running as a Democrat. While canvassing I spoke with one man that assured me he always voted Democratic and I had to explain that both candidates are running as Democrats.

every vote counts in defeating Trump and his enabling Republicans. Not only were Wisconsin, Michigan and PA extremely close, but North Carolina and Florida were also decided for Trump by less than 1% of the vote.

Rick Wilson, Max Boot, Jennifer Rubin and others know full well that Democrats are almost all pro choice, pro Obamacare, and support Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid and are still supporting Democrats because they think Trump is bad for America, the Republican Party and the world.

Getting their support doesn't mean we're adopting their positions.

it's being admitted means Republican defections are being too noticed to ignore, have to spin them away. He focuses on pretending this is just a few public faces, but the big question, of course, is what's happening among the electorate.

Divorcing Trump: Why some conservatives are now pushing Democrats (!)

The conservative commentators who absolutely despise President Trump are in a box. During the campaign, many loudly proclaimed that they could never vote for Trump. But they said they didn't want Hillary Clinton to win either. So some opted for fringe candidates or third-party candidates or write-in candidates or told people to make up their own minds.
This was something of a charade. Either Trump or Clinton was going to be the next president. So by refusing to back Trump, they were increasing the chances that Hillary would win.

Now, with the midterms approaching, some of those on the right are taking the step that they refused to take in 2016: They are openly rooting for the Democrats. This is how topsy-turvy our politics have become.

Here's the debate: Are these onetime Republicans so blinded by what I call Trump Trauma that they're running into the arms of the opposition party? Or is this a one-off, a temporary defection to restrain a president they think is damaging the country?

These people deserve to be taken seriously. But it doesn't invalidate their arguments to say that there are certain rewards in the media culture for conservatives who break with their side. Favorable publicity. MSNBC contracts. New respect from the left for their independence. (Flip the script for a moment and think about how the few Democratic pundits who broke with Barack Obama were denigrated or dismissed.)

Some big-name, anti-Trump conservatives, such as Bill Kristol, argue that it's better to stay and fight for a better GOP, which they define as veering away from the president's most controversial policies. But for others, the Democrats that they've spent their lives battling suddenly look like they're worth dating, if not marrying. ...

Even as these pundits argue that Trumpism is ruining the GOP, the president is enjoying record-high support among Republicans. Bottom line: They aren't bringing many voters along with them.

You hope, Kurtz, but no one believes. The question is how many? Btw, two (!) Republican congressmen in red-redoubt Kansas are in danger of losing to Democrats on November 6.

we can pry their cold dead hands off all the levers of power.

This won’t be over until the good people in our nation can amass enough power to be able to go through our compromised judiciary and root out all of the right wing fascist judicial activists dispensing injustice.

Flipping seats is just a small beginning. These barbarians need to be exiled to the farthest political reaches and never be allowed back in to govern.

This is classic disinformation.

Moscow's puppet and his media surrogates are trying to suppress Democratic party voter turnout.

Also, Trump is a Republican wet-dream. No way are they leaving him.

Ana Navaro is another big time Trump critic, tho again, not sure that means she says vote Dem.
