Russians Will Target Liberals on Social Media for the Midterm Elections (e.g. #WalkAway)

We learned a lot about how Russia weaponized social media from the Mueller indictments. The goals were twofold: (1) damage Hillary Clinton and (2) sow discord. We might be witnessing a trial run of what they will attempt for the upcoming midterm elections with the emergence of a campaign using the hashtag #WalkAway.

To give you a brief rundown, it all started with a Facebook page titled, “The Unsilent Minority” and a video by someone whose name is Brandon Straka. You can watch the entire six minute video at that link, but here are a few excerpts if you’d rather not:

Once upon a time, I was a liberal. Well, to be honest, less than a year ago, I was still a liberal… I reject a system which allows an ambitious, misinformed and dogmatic mob to suppress free speech, create false narratives, and apathetically steamroll over the truth. I reject hate. These are the reasons why I became a liberal. And these are the same reasons why I am now walking away.

Let’s stop for a minute and think about the message here: “I was a Democrat/progressive for my entire life but I decided to abandon my values and switch parties when the least popular, least qualified and most unprincipled Republican president in modern American history took office.” That is patently absurd.

Last weekend #WalkAway went viral. But as Caroline O. has meticulously documented, it did so via Trump supporters with a huge assist from bots, trolls and Russian accounts. In addition, all of that has been amplified by Kremlin-controlled media.

5. The horrible political war for the control of the USA has already started. What is our

Government doing to fight back to prevent further damage to our Country? Where are our hundreds of thousands of anti-espionage
specialist? Who is leading our forces against the Russians? We don't need thousands of aircraft, ships and nuclear warheads. We need thousands of highly trained counter espionage people.

It seems to me that the rank of file of our citizens are not fully aware of the situation.

Who has trump put in charge of fighting this war? Why did trump disband the counter spy computer group based at the White House?

Why aren't any of our military leaders commenting and sounding the alarm?

But, the war is not over by a long shot. America has thousands of smart , caring and brave citizens who unfortunately are not
running the Government. Without the Presidency, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court or the military, it's going to take
a huge amount of raw will power on the part of our citizens to turn this awful tide.

It appears that the Republican whores in the Senate and House are totally on the take. They didn't hesitate to turn our Country over to the Russians.

The French succeeded with their revolution because the gained control of the General Assembly.

what the Democrats are doing? We can't criticize them at all?"

I think the answer for Democrats this year should be that, starting next month, NO, you CAN'T! Just DON'T!

Let's get through this election, and then, once we have taken back at least one and hopefully two houses, THEN we can go back to ripping each other up.

But just for 3 months of our lives, let's present a united front.

We are to believe that liberals are going to walk away to the Republican party to get away from "hate"?



Was that a liberal driving his car into a crowd of protestors in Charlottesville who were protesting right wing hate groups? Or is there something warm and fuzzy about being at a rally chanting "lock her up"? This is walking away from hate? Yeah, nothing is going to feel more cozy to a "former liberal" than joining people walking around with sidearms who celebrate taking children from their mothers because they are "breaking the law" by seeking asylum from violence.

What liberal would be dumb enough to believe a message this stupid?
