I guess it's time to start writing again

I occasionally write letters to the editor of our local paper. I got started in the run up to Iraq. A lengthy opinion piece of mine got printed and cost me a few Republican clients. Since we have had President Obama in the White House, my less frequent letters have been very positive. In the last six months I have written only a couple of letters and they had nothing at all to do with politics. Today I see a letter from a frequent flamer ass hat Republican complaining about all the liberal LTTEs published. He singles out four people as gross abusers of our first amendment rights and, to my amazement, he has included me. I didn’t realize that I had made such an impression on this poor slob’s amygdala. I thinks it’s time to start writing again.

1. You are right. I hope you'll head your threads here with reference to LTTEs and maybe use your

journal too. I'm thinking how collaboration would encourage me and others to put more effort into letters to the editor too.

2. My biggest problem is how much work it takes to boil stuff down to 300 politically correct words.

Not too densely packed with concepts . . .

That takes so much time to do and then I'm usually ignored when I submit it to the newspaper, but at least I could go post to their websites, I guess.

3. when they call out 1st Amendment fouls on you.....

you know you have won.
That means they have no counter to your facts and just want you silenced.

4. The wackiest letter I ever saw in the San Diego papers (and their have been some strange ones)

was from an extremely right wing Christian lady who objected to the state switching to Daylight Savings Time. She said & I quote "The liberals are trying to change our God given time". I could always picture this Hand from Above handing down to Moses an alarm clock.
