Republican Issues Non-Apology Apology After Comparing Obama To Hitler, Stalin And Mao

That's what they do.

Marisha Agana, a Republican running in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, said Monday she was “sorry if I made a poor choice of analogy” when she said President Obama was like Hitler, Stalin and Mao.

Politico reports on the story, which popped up on the the Republican’s Twitter feed.

“History has a way of repeating itself: Stalin , Hitler, Mao Tse Tung and now Obama!!!” Agana tweeted Sunday.

for people to spread all over the world obnoxious remarks that not too long ago they would have made only among like-minded friends. This is a double-edged sword, I guess. On one hand, it lets nasty people spew their crap all over the landscape. On the other hand, it lets the rest of us know just whom and what we're dealing with. Now we know from their own virtual lips that a lot of GOP politicians really are cranks, crackpots, racists and lunatics, where once we might have only suspected it. The sad thing is that people who should be holed up in their parents' basements eating Cheetos and wanking to youtube vids of Sarah Palin are actually getting elected to public office, notwithstanding (or maybe because of) their publicly-expressed nastiness.

has run its course. It's not "isolated". It's pervasive and there's a continuous pattern. That party has attracted the racists freaks and any in the GOP who won't renounce the lunacy are tacitly guilty of it themselves.

You get to say you're sorry but to simultaneously imply that anyone who was offended by your statement might actually be at fault. (I'm sorry you were offended by what I said - implication that you may just be too thin-skinned - rather than simply saying "I am sorry I said that".)

I'll be posting an OP soon about a weekend spent with some young 2008 Obama voters. The news is very, very bad. He has pissed away an opportunity that won't occur again for at least 50 years.

or their move toward sensible health care, or their end to the money hemorage in the ME, or someone who would stand up to the NRA, or stand up to the loony Republicans, or someone who would at least pretend to be a Dem. They're very discouraged.

In fact things are worse now than they were in 2010, and worse then than they were in 2008. And the next Congress will be even more right-wing than the current one. but if it helps to wear rose-colored glasses, good on you.

Please refrain from personal attacks.

We are out of Iraq. We are winding down Afghanistan. For the moment, we are staying out of Iran.

The Affordable Care Act did pass and is being implemented.

And their choice is to default to Romney? Their response is to walk away, give control back to those who destroy?

but most of their immense energy from 4 years ago has been sapped by his lack of pushback against the enemies of America (Tea Baggers). In 2008 they considered themselves front seat passengers on the Hope train. This time they're hoping to stave off the worst of the teabaggers' damage. As I said the president had a rare opportunity four years ago and he's wasted it by negotiating with terrorists.

As for the rose-colored glasses, I don't know what else can account for your observation that "things are getting better". Alert my post if you believe it to be a personal attack.

And they are better persons for it. That fever-pitch excitement level cannot be maintained over the long haul.

I am happy with small increments of improvement.

Not satisfied with small increments but happy to accept the improvement and use that as a base from which to push for more.

they thought they were voting out the Republicans. They thought they were voting in someone who would support unions, support teachers, take on the NRA, call out the Bachmanns and Kings and especially Boner, expose Hate Radio and Fox News, cut the ridiculous DoD budget, stick with his promise for a Public Option on health care, and expire the Bush tax cuts.

As for the current campaign, they can't figure out where candidate Obama from 2008 went. Of course it is more difficult to promise change after 4 years of appeasement, centrism, and "bi-partisanship", but to run the same "Mitt doesn't pay taxes" ad for a month or more is bizarre. Where are the videos of Bachmann calling for violence? Where are the lists of crackpot laws the Republicans have tried to pass? Why in the world is he not campaigning against the most extreme political party in US history?

The glass-half-full folks think he's going to get re-elected and look like a hero for eking out a few minor victories against a teabagger congress. The glass-half-empty's think he's either exhausted and trying to lose the election, or wants to preside with a teabagger Congress so he'll have cover for enacting a "centrist" (more conservative than Reagan) agenda.

Let us know when you have a sensible rebuttal

at this point in time there's probably no changing your mind...

Even with the most do nothing teabagger right wing nutter fuck Congress in a 100 years.

"The glass-half-empty's think he's either exhausted and trying to lose the election, or wants to preside with a teabagger Congress so he'll have cover for enacting a "centrist" (more conservative than Reagan) agenda."

This may be the most back-wards uninformed statement I've seen on here since BBI was tombstoned.
