The above image, provided by NASA, shows the Mars Curiosity rover as it deployed its parachute for landing on the Martian surface. NASA engineers successfully guided the rovers descent, with the Curiosity touching down around 1 a.m. eastern time early Monday morning.

On a different note - can anybody tell me how they kept up near instantaneous communication with the Rover?
