As temperatures crept toward 90 degrees, tens of thousands of protesters shuffled across the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday afternoon to denounce the Trump administrations zero-tolerance immigration policy.
Crowds gathered in lower Manhattan before marching over the East River to Cadman Plaza, not far from the federal courthouse for the End Family Separation NYC Rally and March. It was one of more than 600 demonstrations taking place this weekend, from the nations capital to Appalachia. Thousands took to the streets to demand the end of the separation of immigrant children from their families, as well as implore voters to turn out for this years midterm elections.
n Washington, D.C., more than 30,000 people gathered in Lafayette Square where shouts of Shame! rang through the crowd, according to NBC. In Atlanta, civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (D) of Georgia echoed the spirit of the civil rights movement: As a nation and a people we can do better, Lewis said. Dont give up. Dont give in. Keep marching. And, near El Paso, Texas, thousands congregated near the border. There were also marches in more conservative regions like Wyoming and Kansas, and in cities large and small ...

More than 325 people gathered along the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg on Saturday to call for the reunification of families separated at the U.S.-Mexican border and the closure of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Berks County.

As 2,000 immigrant children still wait to be reunited with their parents, thousands rallied downtown in opposition to the Trump administration's immigration policies
... protesters, many of them mothers and fathers themselves, assembled in Daley Plaza to denounce the Justice Department's zero-tolerance policy and call on the government to return the children to their parents. Demonstrators gathered around a stage chanting Si se puede! (Yes, you can!) as speakers took to the stage to denounce family separation as a deterrent to illegal immigration.
Margo Chavez-Easley, 39, of South Shore, carried a sign reading What lengths would you go for your children?!? Chavez, who immigrated to the U.S. from Guatemala with her mother when she was 9, said she felt an obligation to speak out against the practice of separating families.
To be an immigrant and an American, I feel a mix of pride and shame, Chavez-Easley said. ... Thats a childs biggest fear is to lose their mom and dad ...
