Trump Falsely Claims to Be First Republican to Win Wisconsin Since Eisenhower

“When we won the state of Wisconsin, it hadn’t been won by a Republican since Dwight D. Eisenhower.”
— President Trump, at an event in Mount Pleasant, Wis., on Thursday

Two other Republican presidents won Wisconsin after Dwight D. Eisenhower twice swept the state in 1952 and 1956.

Richard M. Nixon first won Wisconsin in the 1960 presidential election ...
Nixon won Wisconsin again in 1968 and in 1972.
A decade later, Ronald Reagan also won Wisconsin in 1980 and 1984.

In December 2016, he said it had been 38 years since a Republican candidate took the state;
at a speech in South Carolina on Monday it was 44 years.
On Thursday, Mr. Trump said he was the first Republican to win there in a half century.

he just makes things up. Why would anyone want to listen to all the lies. Guess his base don't even bother to check if what he babbles about is true. He look extra ugly in that photo.

Fact-checking like this is fighting the last war. In the old paradigm where everyone agreed there's an objective truth and it matters and politicians shouldn't lie, then yeah, what nytimes did hear was the right thing.

But nowadays, repeating Donnie's lies only serves Donnie's interests, even when pointing out that they are lies. In fact, it arguably *helps* Donnie to point out that they are lies, because that invokes the Donnie vs. the media narrative, and for people who believe Donnie, it only reinforces that Donnie must be correct.

The real headline here is simply that Donnie lied, and perhaps talking about his lie count or how many people believe him anyway. Or better yet, how dangerous it can be to have a blatant liar in the Oval Office. Repeating the actual lie doesn't help us. At most it should be buried deep in the article.
