Need a "civic education" channel to debunk fundamental right-wing-think-tank ideology

Rightwing billionaires have so successfully spread distortions, memes, and emotional constructs across the American public that
1) people continually vote against their own interests
2) civil conversations at a common sense level are no longer possible across the political divide
3) large numbers have been conditioned to be so gullible / easily influenced that their views can be shaped at will, through FOX or a twitter campaign, as long as it’s attached to the general tribalism

Programs like...
What are the contributions of immigrants?
Do rich people “give us all the jobs”?
Why Free Press was First
What’s so evil about the common good? Public institutions in American history
What Social Security does for society that “401Ks” do not

A Fairness Doctrine for the Internet Age?

All oriented to a sense that you had from a 1970s civics textbook or the constitution, with plenty of graphs but also patriotism. Maybe hosted by Walter Cronkite, since I’m in dreamland here.

The point is, we are fighting battles to beat specific mutated examples of these distortions — politicians who spout code words that fit within the Koch / theocratic /racist triad — but we are fighting against a massive tide of embedded beliefs. Until we attack these ideas at the root, we will always be fighting an uphill battle.
