My apologies if this has been posted already, but it really made me feel better and hopeful for the future.

"I hate “we’re fucked.”

I mean, I don’t want to shame anyone who has said it, thought it, or posted it. I have too. But as a philosophy, as a statement of belief, I hate it. Because it means you’ve given up.
We are absolutely NOT fucked.

Things are so bad. This country has taken a turn that I could never have predicted. It is absolutely fascist, nativist, and extremist. It’s every bit as scary as it seems.
But we are not fucked."

This was in Lawrenceville, GA, county seat of Gwinnett County. I've been to some down in Atlanta, and the difference I noticed this time was many of the signs had Christian themes, Jesus quotes like "what so ever you did for the least of these, you did for me." No counterprotesters were present. I'm not religious, but lots of Christians are pissed off by the Trump policies too. They are on our side!

Barack Obama said in his farewell address that he truly believed we will be okay. I think we will.

They said, “We’re in a fight.” And you know what’s interesting? Nazi Germany went from the worst regime in the world to a liberal democracy within a lifetime.

Oh...and, the rest of the world was able to accomplish this because Germany didn't have a nuclear arsenal that could wipe out a country with the push of a button...like we do.

He says pretty much the exact opposite:

I have a high regard for Mueller and I think his investigation will have some influence. But don’t wait on him to save us. He can’t. And don’t wait on impeachment. I would support it fervently, but it is nothing to bank on. And especially don't assume Trump can't win again. He absolutely can. Our best bet - better, even, than all of our protests and actions - is actually voting.

But if his answer is voting, I'm afraid that may not be enough. Because of Russia. And because of Republican history of violating the sanctity of fairness at the polls...shortening hours, shortening early voting windows, closing polling places, "losing" absentee ballots, purging voter rolls.

I'm a personal friend of Will and although he's amused at the confusion, the words are his and not those of Henry Rollins. He's glad to have generated some discussion but has been a bit caught off guard as he'd have maybe thought things out in more detail if he knew he'd wind up with such a wide audience!

Recently, I have begun to feel somewhat hopeless & actually physically ill in the face of the constant barrage of PINO trump's smirking face & mindless voice & obscene lies. But this piece let some Light in again, so I am grateful to read it and to have access to it.
