All hands on deck

Being an old hippie, I have quite a few old hippie "friends" on Facebook who voted Jill Stein or who didn't vote at all in 2016. Their Facebook posts during the campaign were pretty wretched: No difference between the parties, lies about Secretary Clinton (Russian-created memes?), etc. I'm sure you know the drill. For much of the campaign, I fact-checked their posts and kept bringing up what could happen with the Supreme Court should Trump win. All to no avail. Their minds were made up.

Now, after most stayed quiet for a year, these same folks are going hog wild tearing into Trump and his administration, posting much more and certainly more virulantly anti-Trump than most of my pro-Hillary friends. Sure, they post some stuff about Trump that's not true (and I do fact-check that stuff for them), but because there is so much about Trump's clown-show bullshit that is true, they're mostly right on.

I really, really want to confront them about their "no differences" and their "evil Hillary" stances during the campaign. Look at what you've done, assholes! I have to hold myself back. I've gone so far as to compose a few "fuck you" posts directed at their silliness, but I never posted them. Why? I figure as long as they're fighting the good fight (as temporary as that may be), why throw cold water on their actions? They are reaching people whom I don't know, maybe renegade hipster types who might be swayed. They are, at the very least, spreading the word. There will be time for the "fuck you" posts later, after we sink the monster, but we have to sink the monster first, and to do that we have to have all hands on deck.

People make mistakes. Sure, they made a bad mistake but if they realize the error in the ways I don't see a reason to pile it on. Save that for the dipshits who STILL support Trump.

I voted for Nader in 2000 because I was unhappy with NAFTA/WTO and Gore picking Lieberman as his VP, and believe me, I still have a guilty conscience for the shit that happened after that.

I've always believed in 2nd chances. We want people to change their minds, and giving them shit when they do might be counter productive.

It's true that as far as we know Trump never slaughtered baby goats alive in the Rose Garden and handed their still-beating hearts to his cabinet nominees to eat in a ritualistic show of fealty, despite reports to the contrary.

I really can't remember what they posted about Trump that was untrue, but I do remember that I did use Politifact to correct some of the posts.

It's so sad the sad sacks had to learn the hard way what a monster trump is.

Why couldn't they see it then like so many of us did?

Many people were conned into believing their lies and wild claims, and I know some that now realize they were played by trump and others to believe their lies as the truth, and are even more upset at trump then we are now. This will continue as they see their health care gone, their wages go down or stay the same , and their Social Security destroyed and looted again by these criminals now in charge. Even a few die hard ones are losing faith in trump as he destroys everything he touches while promoting his pro russia agenda for putin almost openly now for putin. They are also tired of his constant lying about the truth , and see him now as a threat to this country , and the world.
