I thought to myself, "What the hell is all this coverage on Jesse Jackson Jr and the mental breakdown?"
People have mental breakdowns all the time, leave him and his family alone. The mainstream media seems to be
giving it far greater play than anyone might expect. Leave them alone..
That is not it. It has to do with guilt by assoiciation. Jesse Jackson is a well known Afro-American leader who can polarize
the electorate. He is very strong willed in his beliefs and quite controversial. This is his son. It doesn't matter that they
are two different people. They are the same to the mainstream media. like father, like son..
But that is not it...nope...By putting the name Jesse Jackson out there, and he promotes deep hate from the gut, on many
levels.to many people...yes, controversial, loud, outspoken, ..over and over and over to people that hate..hate. Remember Rev. Wright?.
Now are there any other well known Afro-American politicians out there that the main stream media would like to trash and get rid of?
A fellow in the White House??? guilt by assoication??? think about it?....
That is why there is so much Jesse Jackson Jr out there...Main stream outlets..over and over and over..
Yes it is ugly beyond belief.....so what else is new?

(17,863 posts)He holds one of the highest offices in the land. His father is one of the more famous individuals in the country. He cannot fulfill the duties of his public office because of his medical condition. It is news.
I have not been following the coverage so I cannot comment on the tone of it.

Look at the light and his expression.

(31,706 posts)Jesse Jr. is a Congressman who represents several hundred thousand constituents who deserve an answer as to why their Congressman has vanished for the past several months. If he's suffering from a breakdown or other mental problem then for the sake of his family and district he should resign. If he and his family want privacy then he should resign. This story has been dragging on with few answers for months and questions haven't been answered.

(38,427 posts)Current Senator from Illinois..had a stroke in January...a couple of videos on how he is doing and that is all..
We in Illinois have not called for his resignation and he represents 10,000,000 people in Illinois. So the Media is doing a great job
on Jesse Jackson Jr. and kinda leaving Kirk alone. Both are sick, both having been missing for months.
(Kirk much longer than Jackson) I don't hear anyone calling up Kirk's wife and insisting on knowing all the details. Mental Breakdowns are very serious. So are strokes. One is white, the other is
black. Are they being treated the same. It is true there are some strories about Kirk in local media. but not the witch hunt that is going on about Jackson JR.

(31,706 posts)Of course I know who Kirk is and his illness is a lot different than Jackson's. Kirk's people came out immediately after his stroke and reported it. His condition is similar to what occured to Tim Johnson...who also suffered a stroke but was able to return to his job (and was re-elected by his constituents) within the year.
We still have no clue what's going on with Jackson and his constituents have only been told he's ill and that's it. I am very sympathetic to his situation and for his privacy but he and his office have been very quiet as to what's really going on and have raised more questions than they have answered. Is this a short-term problem? Jackson's up for re-election...is this illness serious that it may hamper his ability to serve his district? This is a matter of being open and transparent with his constituents...Kirk has been open about his illness while Jackson hasn't. The voters deserve to know and the Jacksons have called it a "private" matter. If they want it to be so then Cong. Jackson should resign.
