and his wild gesticulations... he looks like a puppet in a Punch and Judy show where the puppeteer has had a bit too much of the festival beer.
And he is always telling us how dark things look for Democrats. Always.

I googled him and learned that he is openly gay.
A log cabin republican type. Sad.

(7,447 posts)it's looking pretty freaking dark right now.
We aren't likely to win the Senate this time around, and unless we can solve the fracture in our party, Trump's going to win again in 2020.
Nothing lasts forever and the pendulum swings but right now, it's a very powerful last gasp of old white people.

(30,765 posts)I am out here on the ground working. There are many new grassroots organizations. They are growing and learning about practical politics. They are canvassing and learning how to work with central committees. They are registering people to vote and running for office themselves.
Even if we do not win everything we want in November, we will make gains. Stop pearl clutching and GOTV.

Not going to happen.

(29,226 posts)and that was the last time I ever thought anything good about a republican.
I was young and my family were all republicans.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)was a republican - this was when I first moved to the county just north of the city I've lived in for 26 years. He was pro choice, pro environment, pro gun control. I really didn't have a problem with him and voted for him (he was very popular and usually ran unopposed) until he retired and Nita Lowey has gotten my vote since then.

(7,447 posts)like objectively, statistically true. Older white people over 65.
ALL people over 65 voted for Trump 53-45 over Hillary.
I'm guessing it's not too much of a limb to assume:
1. A majority of voters over 65 are White
2. A LARGE majority of minority voters over 65 didn't vote for Trump
3. Thus, the margin of strictly White voters over 65 was probably significantly larger (at least double digits, if not 15+ percent).
So, tell me where my numbers or assumptions are off please.

(12,265 posts)When I showed up to canvass before our primary it was all "old white people" doing the work. You won't win an election pushing us to the curb.
it is ...
Hate that scumbags like Kornacki and Toobin was so joyous about it, but they aren't wrong.

(115,869 posts)And I've been protesting this kind of shit since Vietnam. So lay off the old people. All the recent demonstrations, marches and other progressive gatherings I've been to in the last few years have been heavily populated by us old people while the kids seem to be elsewhere.

I think we all know how troublesome this is, I just don't need to be listening to someone who wants to make us ull feel even worse --
That's not news.
Turned on my local radio news station. I'm in the DC region and sometimes I find the coverage a little less hyperbolic and more in tune with the actual reality on the ground.

(3,635 posts)in a way that was inappopriate, even for the combative Tweety, who I generally like.
Kornacki is the typical both siderist journalist like Todd, Turr, Hunt - he was just stating the reality that Dems lack the votes in the Senate, especially with DINOs like Manchin and Heitkamp likely to vote for any nominee Trump puts up.
Kornacki was simply asking Tweety what mechanism could Dems use, and Tweety lost his shit, and even attacked that other guy who was a SCOTUS expert, who knows what he's talking about.
