If I'd just stop caring I wouldn't be so depressed right now. I am 72 and retired. I don't need

Medicare for all, I have Medicare and cost effective supplemental. I pay zero for the drug I take and my doctor's visits are 100% covered.

I don't need a minimum wage, I have a pension and Soc Sec. and a modest savings. My wife who is 17 yrs younger has a great job and salary and benefits. She works for a German company. She has health care and time off.

I have my BA degree and don't plan on any more higher education costs. We own our home and can easily live within our income.

I am not about to get an abortion and neither is my wife. We don't have kids to worry about.


I thought maybe I'll just turn on Fox News all day and get brain washed into believing trump was sent by god. That way I won't care what happens to immigrants and their kids.


Trouble is I do care what is happening and is going to happen to those effected by trump and the right wing. So I'll just remain depressed and try to do what I can to help.

I'm in the same position as you. None of the awful things that may happen will have any effect on my life, but I am sick with worry about how they will affect the lives of other people. Do Republicans just not care about people who are not like them? Is that why they accuse us of being "holier than thou" and "elitist"?

It's hard for me to believe that there are not good people somewhere in the Republican party. Where are their voices? Are they calling and writing their representatives? We know Republican politicians aren't doing dick; but what about the lady who teaches Sunday school, or the cop on the beat? If they are Republicans, do they care? And how much?

The Republicans I know don't care. They are beside themselves with glee, not least because recent events upset me and other Democrats so much. What is wrong with them?

8. I'm In The Same Position As Well But I Worry About The Generations Coming Up....

our kids and grandkids. Look what they'll have to deal with. Somehow the Dems need to appeal to the Millennials to get them out to vote in Nov. This is a watershed election for them and their future - but I don't know if the Dems are getting through to them.

Unfortunately the Millennials are struggling to make a living. They are having to deal with massive student loan debt - at the same time trying to make a life for themselves and their families. They are living from paycheck to paycheck. They are trying to afford the better things in life - like buying a home and raising a family. I'm worried that with all the pressure that they are experiencing on a day to day basis - that they don't have time to think of the implications of what is happening in the political world that will dominate their futures.

How do we get through to them? If you have ideas as to how to get through to them - please post them here. We need to try everything possible to get them involved in this political process. We need to get them to understand what their future would be like if they just ignore what is happening around them.

I am suggesting something I cannot do, plug in the phone & go with your wife for a movie & dinner. Take a park walk, do a long put off chore. Sometimes a break is necessary

4. For Those who assume they will not be affected, or will be able to withstand the storm and ride it

out, it will eventually affect them. Whether it is through their children, grandchildren, relatives, etc.

Civil Rights, Healthcare, Consumer Protections, Social Security, Medicare, etc.

The problem is by the time they are impacted it may be too late too do anything about it

I'm 53 (will be 54 next week). I'm taking care of mom (90), so I'm unable to work in my profession because others are either far away (2 brothers), disabled (sister), or don't seem to care (oldest bro).

I'm in the same boat as you with numerous ailments (gout, past stroke and heart attack victim), and I also do care what's happening. And like you I also get depressed with where we're going. BUT I WILL FIGHT WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BODY TO SURVIVE!!!

Find something you can do, even if it's local, even if it's small, even if it's not traditionally political. We didn't get into this position overnight. We won't fix it overnight either.

if we didn't care, life would be easier. I'm 69, retired with SS and a pension. I live in a northwest paradise with no stress or worries other than the ones traitor rump and his bought and paid for minions, have created for all of us.

Our generation fought, died and marched against the same injustices we're fighting against now. We fought, died and marched for the same rights we're fighting for now. We might be too old the march, but we're not too old to fight! I'd rather go down fighting.

Always remember and never forget: Anger is better than depression. Apathy is worse than hate.
