FOX News Commentator: "MSNBC is refusing to show American success on Mars"

She was referencing the fact that FOX and CNN were providing live ccoverage from NASA, while MSNBC was not. I tried to get the link from foxnews.com, but it appears to have been removed from the site. I didn't get the commentatator's name, but she was a blonde white woman, so that should narrow it down.

But I have a question: Isn't MSNBC just NBC News Network now? That's what I get now when I click my bookmark for msnbc.com

Anyway, I think it was a dumb comment to make at that hour of the night, though I did stay up (and am still awake, obviously) to see the landing at approx 12:30 AM my time.

on the TV screen it still says MSNBC - they haven't changed/updated that part yet.

When I go to MSNBC.com the page that comes up is: http://www.nbcnews.com/

And btw, the http://www.nbcnews.com/ page has news about NASA's Curiosity rover there - including a 'Breaking' banner.

When you go to http://www.nbcnews.com/

there is a very tiny 'msnbc' link at the top right of the page

if you click on that it takes you to the MSNBC TV video page.

And the loony lefties, as MSNBC is considered by the mouthbreathers, would rather take that NASA money and give it to illegal Muslim terrorists and Satanic homosexual crackheads.

It was a cheap shot but there is a decent point within it. MSNBC should have been covering it. They should have meaningful weekend programming when people are actually awake. Abandoning the weekend is abandoning the battlefield.

The only reason Rachel has a job is so the myth of the "Liberal Media" can be perpetuated.

Sometimes, if you look real close, you can see her invisible leash.

She does what she can with what she has. Gotta love her.

8. I disagree. Rachel, Sharpton, Ed and Matthews have a job because it brings in the ratings...

It's not a conspiracy. GE & Comcast are all about money and they know they can't compete with FOX in terms of right-wing talk shows, as CNN has shown, so they've gone to the left for their nightly bloc in hopes of bringing in viewers who are a bit left-of-center. It's worked. While MSNBC's ratings aren't as good as FOX, they're better than CNN's.

It's all about money to them. They found a niche and went with it, even if it goes against the entire company as a whole.

That's the way I see it, anyway.

They're a business first and a political arm second. They know how to make money and they're doing it. Since MSNBC has gone left, it has raised its ratings across the board. It's all business and all about $$$.

Your OP seems to rest on the false assumption that elite = conservative. In truth there are a whole lot of elite liberals in both the corporate and media worlds and that goes for outfits like MSNBC, where the two intersect.

An elite liberal certainly isn't the same as working poor liberal, but many people behind the scenes in the media are indeed liberal, or at the very least tend to vote Democratic. Saying so isn't perpetuating a myth, it's simply acknowledging reality.

And as has been pointed out below, the ratings and advertising games are big factors in MSNBC's ideological character. There is a lucrative market for liberal commentary, just as there is one for conservative commentary. MSNBC didn't hire Rachel Maddow or anybody else in order to carry out some grand conspiracy. They hired them in large part because they are capable of drawing viewers.
