While conservatives do their little dance, arguably any judges appointed by this pResident would have to recuse themselves, making a far less tilted playing field for impeachment.

With the conviction of some of the other gang members, Trump's legitimacy to have chosen anyone will certainly be in question. Supreme courts don't answer to much, but they do answer to history. No Supreme wants to be remembered like Roger Tanney, who was chief justice in Dred Scott - often cited as the worst Supreme Court decision in US history. That was even a cause of the Civil War.
