A disturbing photo on Facebook tonight.

A young woman that I worked with in Texas (I've since moved back to Missouri) posted a photo of herself standing next to a cartoon likeness of President Obama with an arrow in his head. She just happens to be holding arrows in her right hand and is flipping off the camera with her left. I reported the photo to Facebook and unfriended her. After all of the violence in Colorado and now Wisconsin I'm so tired of this fucking ugly shit, I'm not going to let this slide anymore. I hope she gets a vist from the Secret Service.

1. You did the right thing. What she did isn't cute or funny, but deadly serious...

The infantile and the nutcases need to behave when there's enough weirdness to go around.

2. Silence is support. That said, we should be careful about responding to violent images and language

with violence of our own in insults and verbal assaults, as is so common.

To your credit, Loki, you didn't feed the bad energy by contributing to it.

Each one of us has to stop this.

I am sick of this shit too.

We despised Dubya, but we were not as ugly as these people are.

I hope that what I've done will take care of it. Will keep an eye out for any change. She would have to be really stupid to not know who did this especially since I unfriended her.

It's so disturbing when you find so much hate and ignorance in the world, especially in people that you know. My 19 year old saw the photo and his first reaction was "Now that's really stupid." yes it certainly is when a 19 year old has more smarts and common sense than someone who is in their 30's.

6. I wonder how she would feel if someone posted a picture of her Mom with an arrow through her head?

Stupid people just don't get it.

And yes, she needs to get a visit from the Secret Service in order to determine her mental state.

I hear people chiming in with something like that, and I usually say "Save it for the real crooks, why don't you?"
Sometimes it leads to a useful exchange, but it always gets a pause; better than nothing.
Pretty sad, when cave-man emotions pass for political opinions.

I don't think it would have been necessary for the secret service to pay me a visit.

The image conjured here is quite nasty and it was probably a mistake for this person to post it on facebook. It probably is a step or two more provocative than what I did. But it's really little more than run of the mill president-hating.
