Native American fights against foreclosure from Native American bank.

Stand in solidarity with Anita Reyes-Lerey against Woodlands Bank as she fights to stay in her home!
On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/104596556354268/

Wednesday, August 8th at 12:30 PM
Outside the Minneapolis American Indian Center, 1530 East Franklin Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55404

In the last month, Woodlands National Bank has forced Anita Reyes-Lerey to live in constant fear of eviction, renovate much of her home <http://www.occupyhomesmn.org/community_rolls_up_sleeves_and_repairs_home_to_prepare_for_negotiation> , and give away over 17 years of memories and belongings all under the pretense of “negotiation.”
Despite the countless roadblocks Woodlands Bank has created, Anita has persevered and remains dedicated to staying in the home she loves <http://www.occupyhomesmn.org/south_minneapolis_woman_to_defy_sheriff_s_eviction_orders_after_bank_backs_out_of_negotiation> .

Just two months ago the bank backed out of a deal that would have allowed Anita to stay in her home <http://www.theuptake.org/2012/07/23/four-minute-late-phone-call-to-bank-costs-anita-her-home/> under the pretense of a minor technicality. Last week Anita and her supporters drove the 90 miles to the main branch of Woodlands National Bank where, instead of sitting down face-to-face to talk with her, bank employees told Anita and members of the American Indian Movement to leave and called the police on them <http://www.occupyhomesmn.org/anita_reyes_travels_90_miles_to_confront_bank_bank_executive_hides_in_office_calls_police> .

Now, after two years of broken promises, Woodlands Bank has come back to Anita with what they say is their final offer -- they want Anita to "rent" her own home month-to-month for 1 year with the ability to kick her out at any time, and at the end of a year they promise to throw her out anyway with no option of staying!

Bank President Ken Villebro doesn’t understand that Anita will do whatever it takes to win back her house and that she has the support of a movement that has successfully fought back against giants like US Bank and Citibank and won! It’s time to remind Villebro that he’s up against a community that will no longer stand for banks who won't allow reasonable loan modifications and who would rather call the police than negotiate in good faith.

Join Anita, members of the American Indian Movement, her neighbors, and the growing movement working to end the foreclosures that break apart our communities as we rally to tell Woodland's Bank to KEEP ANITA IN HER HOME!

Want other ways to help? Call Ken Villebro at (503)-532-7001 and ask him why Woodlands National Bank is more comfortable calling the police on its customers than working with them and urge him to begin real negotiations with Anita!

Then, visit and sign Anita’s petition and join over 26,000 supporters in calling for Woodlands Bank <x-msg://7/goog_450951863>
to keep Anita in her home
