Is Your Neighbor a Democrat? Obama Has an App for That

Source: ProPublica

Curious how many Democrats live on your block? Just download the Obama campaign's new mobile app.

The app, released last week, includes a Google map for canvassers that recognizes your current location and marks nearby Democratic households with small blue flags.

For each targeted address, the app displays the first name, age and gender of the voter or voters who live there: "Lori C., 58 F, Democrat."

... Asked about the privacy aspects of the new app, a spokesperson for the Obama campaign wrote that "anyone familiar with the political process in America knows this information about registered voters is available and easily accessible to the public."

Personally, I have one neighbor I'm not comfortable aboht knowing my political affiliations...

Sure, he could very well find out easily by walking down to City Hall, however these hate folks generally do not have that kind of ambition. Making it an app download away creates the possibility of hate crimes a very real possibility....

My iPod is older than yours and it upgraded. Just plug it into your computer and the option to upgrade comes up.
Be sure to back it up first.

I've seen a PC based campaign data base program used by a friend who ran for local office that had the name, address, and party affiliation of every registered voter in his district, all from available public records.

He used it to first contact party members for basic campaigning, contributions and GOTV, and then independents to make his pitch to.
