Congressional intern suspended after yelling obscenity at President Trump at the Capitol
by Amy B Wang June 26 at 10:55 AM
A congressional intern who yelled an obscenity at President Trump at the Capitol last week has been suspended.
The incident took place on June 19, as Trump was walking to the office of House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) to discuss immigration, according to a video taken by NBC News reporter Frank Thorp V.
In the video, as Trumps entourage walks through a corridor, a woman can be heard shouting Mr. President! followed by a profane insult.
The woman, who was on the other side the Capitol Rotunda at the time, was identified as an intern working for Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), a spokesman for the senators office confirmed.

OP
I'd risk firing if I could yell obscenities at Trump. Nice to know the intern has a NH connection.

A Congressional Intern should behave better. Firing would have been warranted.

(6,377 posts)1. Honestly, being suspended for one week is light.
I imagined yelling obscenities in the Capitol at the president would generally result in immediate firing.

As an intern that person is a representative for the people of their state. ALL the people of their state. They are not the congressperson nor the governor of the state. In their capacity as an intern for the representative they are not entitled to voice their personal opinion in the capital in that manner. They should be voicing the statements and opinions of the representative for whom they work. They most certainly should not be shouting expletives in the capital.
On their own FB and Instagram they are welcome to voice their own opinions.
