The U.S. Supreme Court upheld President Donald Trump’s discriminatory Muslim ban — and social media users raged at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for stealing a seat to influence the election.

Justice Neil Gorsuch joined the conservative 5-4 majority to uphold a travel ban ordered by the president who appointed him targeting several Muslim-majority countries, and Twitter users blasted McConnell and other GOP leaders for corrupting the constitutional process to aid Trump.

Obama had appointed Merrick Garland to the seat held by the late Antonin Scalia, who died in February 2016 — nine months before the presidential election — but McConnell announced about an hour later that he would refuse to consider any nominee by the Democratic president.

13. What if they use this vote, to ban Muslims as part of the impeachment. Banning a religions

group from coming into our country is against our very constitution! I know the others asshats voted with him but he is the one who was put in by dirty tricks.

If it came down to their votes actually making a difference they may side with the Democrats. I don't think their votes made a difference in the actual confirmation so they could vote the way they thought their constituents wanted them to vote.

Plus we flip TN, AZ, NV and even TX. Lets say all three Dems who voted to confirm flip and vote to convict. That gets us to 53.

We still need 14 Rethugs to flip and vote convict. It will not happen. Only way would be if Mueller or someone else finds somehow that Gorsuch committed a high crime and/or misdemeanor. Even then the Rethugs will not cave. They are murderously ruthless and they smell endgame to a 65 plus year clawback of all civil rights advances that have sprung from the courts.

4. Just a matter of national security.

Trump now has his excuse to do almost anything based on his determination alone that national security is threatened. Migrant invasion is threatening national security so we have to suspened due process. Illegal immigrants living here for decades are a threat to national security so they must be rounded up and deported, likewise all Muslims. Protesters are a threat to national security so we must all be locked up in detention camps. The Roberts Supreme Court has bow shown Trump that he can do whatever he wants to anyone he wants.

If the Mueller investigation produces indictable crimes, this court would hold that the president cannot be indicted and can pardon himself for all crimes.

12. If Trump does the seemingly impossible a second time and gets

re-elected, get ready for a 7-2 or even 8-1 (Sotomayor's diabetes is getting progressively worse) HARD RW SCOTUS for at least a decade or 2.

The country will, at that point, be, will all deliberate speed, swept back to a time before all civil rights movements and gains of the last 70 plus years.

The ultra RW xtian fundies and the white nationalist legions are on the verge of dealing a deathblow of devastation to our nation.
