4. Slightly, yes. I am a staunch civil libertarian and

I do not dismiss rights casually.

The gunapolooza made me more hostile to gun-rights advocates, while simultaneously embarrassed as hell for many of the gun control advocates. (And a little afraid of how authoritarian and dismissive some could be.)

On balance, however, I think the experience of actually having to counter the more tendentious pro-gun arguments made me a tiny bit more okay with gun control.

(I think that, from a liberty angle, the guns are costing more liberty than they grant.)

5. Yes. I used to think it was possible to have an adult discussion on what regulations are reasonable.

On topics such as: magazine size limits, folding lightweight stocks, background checks, etc.

But, the DU gungeoneers have edumacated me enough so I now know "the bad guys are gonna do what they want anyway, so why have rules?"

7. My Opinion? Thanks for asking

My opinion is that the gun nuts should stay in the gungeon.

All they seem to be doing is trolling for disagreements. They have their guns... what more do they want or expect except to cause trouble?

8. I've learned a lot from those who seek to restrict gun ownership further.

I've learned about what motivates them and their concerns.

I've learned some of my beliefs are not supported by facts.

And I've learned a lot about constitutional and everyday law.

But I'm still a supporter of the right to keep and bear arms. The discussion is worthwhile.

the gun-related discussions on DU, and encountered a variety of issues and applications that I'd never heard of before. My basic position hasn't changed much more than a wiggle here and there, but thinking about the 'why' of everything has been very useful.

I don't really expect to get my mind changed and I don't expect to change others; it would be great if more DUers participated in GC & RKBA on that basis - not as a competition or winnable debate or DU power struggle, but simply to share the best arguments and ideas available...

One of the questions was: Have you ever, or do you now, have a mental illness or nervous background? Yes No

If yes, give details and list past or present treating physician and/or mental facility:________________

All I could think was, who's going to actually admit they have a mental illness? How does one even know whether they have a mental illness or not? Would someone with schizophrenia be able to diagnose themselves?

Mean while 1000's are being slaughtered in other places around the world but DU doesn't give a f*ck I guess unless its about some wacko maniac killer. It's irrational.

... by illogical pie-in-the-sky let-me-wave-my-magic-legislative-wand "solution" arguments so no, I'm not swayed, more like dismayed at the number of people here who are the very definition of "knee-jerk liberal".

Oh well.

15. I am now more pro gun control than I was because of the gun owner replies to most of the gun

threads since Aurora.

The callas self serving attitude that gun owners posted says to me they feel that no matter how much gun violence occurs, or much it increases they really don't give a shit because they have the right to be a own guns. I am convinced that they will be more gun violence not less and people will demand that gun ownership be limited.

to a gun owner, didn't change my views on guns, how could people on DU?

I don't think in America we are ever going to come to a consensus on guns. Too ingrained in our history. One more, "them" against "us".

The people that are pro-gun all the way changed my mind. I think guns should be banned now except for a very few. The people that can have guns are part of a well regulated militia that is trained and dedicated to serving their community.
