2007 - Mom arrested on an immigration raid at a chicken processing plant in Missouri. 11 month old son placed in foster care.

2007 -2012 During this time, Mom was never allowed to see son. Foster parents changed his name from Carlos to Jamison. State moved to terminate parental rights. Foster parents moved to adopt child.

His mom was in federal custody, where she attempted in vain to oppose the adoption proceedings. Her crime was using another person's identity (social security #).

Missouri judge terminated the parental rights, stating that "illegally smuggling herself into the country is not a lifestyle that can provide any stability for the child."

In this time, original decision appealed, the Missouri Supreme Court called the initial decision a "travesty of justice" and ordered a review of the case by a second judge. The second judge reached the same conclusion as first judge. He said mom's parental rights had been terminated because she had abandoned him while she was incarcerated. (see blog above for adoptive parents' view)

2012 - Second hearing - mom lost her effort to get back her son (then 5). Adoptive parents wouldn't allow her to see son.

December 2013 - Missouri Supreme Court refused to hear second adoption challenge from Guatemalan mother. I imagine mom was deported after this but don't have evidence.

Meanwhile - about that raid -- http://www.nbcnews.com/id/18810187/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/t/immigration-agents-arrest-poultry-plant/. Arrested more than 100 workers - they were using false IDs.

In this article, ICE spokesman Tim Counts said no charges have been filed against George's and declined to say whether the company knew it was hiring illegal aliens.

Today, George's chicken processing plant in Missouri is doing just fine! https://www.georgesinc.com/pages/our-company/

Heartbreaking story all around. What happens when Jamison realizes what happened to him?
