Important point regarding "consensus" or "compromise" immigration bill in the House

The media refers to the current pending immigration reform bill as the "consensus" or the "compromise" bill. This is bill negotiated between right wing of House GOP and more moderate House GOP.

Democrats are NOT allowed to see or negotiate this bill. It is not a consensus or compromise across parties, it is only among GOP. As such it is wrong to refer to it in a misleading way that suggests it is bipartisan.

I would ask DU members to make this point in your social media posts here and elsewhere.

Another example of media just swallowing and repeating the jargon of the GOP.

even though Boehner and Ryan follow it faithfully. So the extreme right in the GOP set the actual agenda.
