Nail manufacturing exec who voted for Trump blames him for layoffs, asks Democrat for help

BY EMILY BIRNBAUM - 06/23/18 02:52 PM EDT

An executive for the largest U.S. nail producer who voted for President Trump said he is so dismayed by the president's trade policies that he is lobbying a Democratic senator for help.

George Skarich, vice president of sales for Missouri-based Mid Continent Nail Corporation, told The New York Times that his nail company could soon go out of business.

“He ran on ‘Make America Great Again,’ and the point was to defend and protect jobs in the United States,” Skarich told the Times.

“Now here is an action he decides to take that has the potential to cost 500 U.S. citizens their jobs,” he added, referring to the 25 percent tariffs on steel imports that Trump announced in March.

Because of the tariffs, Skarich said he is lobbying Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill (Mo.) for help.

If McCaskill helps, he will probably still vote for Trump's re-election.

They are stupid like that.

.

I posted this before, but. . .

While it sucks to see these people hurt, the irony of a Mexican-owned nail manufacturer in Red America is something.

This movie scene from "High Plains Drifter" comes to mind. . .

Note: To those unfamiliar with the movie, a town hires Clint Eastwood to kill some bad guys. The same town that paid those bad guys to kill the sheriff. Then, those bad guys ran roughshod over the town. Eventually, they were put in prison, but will return to exact vengeance. Clint Eastwood doesn't want the job, but the town makes him a deal to give him "whatever he wants." Everyone chips in, but the bartender complains about having to cough up alcohol for the bar room. He was OK with everyone else financially suffering a little, until it became his turn to suffer.

Now, 60% of the US bread companies will fail if Trump decides to go after Gruppo Bimbo too!

He should be happy that they are sacrificing to flush a foreign-owned company out of the US to MAGA!
