Nick Confessore is a serious political reporter with The New York Times. Today, on MSNBC with Nicole Wallace, he made an interesting point.
He said at risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, that this jacket could have had an intentional message. Confessore said there are 3 or 4 different Trump presidencies and that one of them is a presidency that speaks to an anti-immigrant and racist base.
Think about that in context of other winks and nods and inside messages sent out to the rabid base. The weird hand sign Stephen Miller is always photographed with is just one example.
Melania is a willing conspirator. Joy Behar could tell you about that.

She's been a willing co-conspirator all along; why should anyone expect her to change now?

(6,212 posts)not only is it juvenile for a 48 year old woman but she is the so called First Lady and its her duty to act in a appropriate manner. She's not fit for the position she holds.

But then again I never bought into that "Trump's wife/daughter being a sensible, mitigating presence behind the scenes and a check on Donnie's insanity" -bullshit...

Yes, she is a horrible person and should be called out for this, but we need to keep focusing on Cheeto's treasonous activity. Shitler views every issue that distracts the media from Russia as a win for him.

(959 posts)was/is part of this woman's wardrobe? I think this was a prop, and she was told to wear it, because it suited the script for this episode of "Outrage America" that we are living under. Keep everyone yelling and screaming about the damned jacket, and not talking about Russia and missing babies.
Our team needs to just not fall into this one.

(9,291 posts)Were winning, this jacket is just for Trump minority racist fans. This photo will be great on a commercial with what is actually occurring when we find those children.
Trump and advisers are playing this wrong, but that's fine.

(2,395 posts)The deplorables need to know it's ok for them not to care about the kids, that trump et al are with them on that.

(82,849 posts)Kremlinologists used to try to divine who was up and who was down in the old Soviet Union by who was standing next to the Premiere at a parade or who was mentioned first in a Pravda news story. They knew they couldn't trust the substance of anything the Soviets said, so they winnowed through the minutiae of everyday occurrences.
The Soviets had nothing on the Trump White House. If veteran professional news reporters can't make hide nor hair out of whatever's coming out of the Trump administration, the American people don't stand a chance.
