Women voting;
Laborers forming unions;
Slaves being freed;
Gay marriages;
School desegregation;
The Civil Rights Act;
A black POTUS ;
and, finally, Donald Trump residing in our White House.

(38,445 posts)As stated in the letter by Pelosi and Schumer ....this must be done, "as soon as possible"...
If this drags on, for months, and the children are still in "jail" Trump will be impeached and removed.

(15,124 posts)A truck runs a stoplight and t-bones you at an intersection. When your car stops rolling, you can see that an artery in your thigh has been severed and your spraying LOTS of bright red blood with each heartbeat.
Is your primary concern your cancer or your spurting artery? Obviously, the bleeder must be dealt with immediately. The cancer can be addressed later, once your life expectancy is not measured in minutes.
Trump is the spurting artery. Pence is the cancer.

If we do our job in November, we'll have a far more amenable Congress to make good things happen. Their job will be easier if we can present them with a righteously pissed off populace hungry for a chance to turn Trump out of office.
