There comes a time when a president's actions are so egregious, criminal and cruel, that they can't be ignored, "let go," or pardoned.
Trump must be held answerable. If not, it would be a message to future would-be tyrants that they can get away with anything, anything, that they do.
This man has committed acts that no moral, just society can allow to go unanswered.
This man has indulged in what could reasonably be called "evil."
This man must be held to answer.
If he's not, then the world will know that "justice" is an illusion held by fools.
Once he's out of office, he must be put on trial, and if for nothing else, he must be tried for crimes against humanity. If shredding families, (perhaps forever), at the border is not a crime against humanity, then that phrase is meaningless.

(15,060 posts)Stop, for one moment, and reflect on the reality that we're posting about such things.
What both of us are saying here would have been unimaginable in the past.
We are living in an era that we may be fortunate enough to survive.
And if we survive, the price for this horror must be paid by those who brought it about.

(90,787 posts)Once Bush got away with torture, future wannabes knew exactly what they could get away with. I said it then, Bush gets away with his crimes and there will be someone after him that pushes the limits as well. Well...Trump.
I'll say it again - If Trump gets away with his shit, it will happen again.
Any bets on whether I'll be able to say it yet again?

(15,060 posts)And past time to put an end to "The Imperial Presidency" forever.
Whoever occupies the Oval Office holds one third of federal government power.
That must be made clear to any future president.
And every future president must be aware that they will be held accountable.

(90,787 posts)Because it does seem as if some presidents are all too often treated with the divine rights of kings.
