MADISON - A group of parents is asking Gov. Scott Walker to reverse his decision to send Wisconsin troops to help U.S. Border Patrol agents in light of President Donald Trump's policy to separate children from parents who cross the border illegally.

"It's our tax money that is going toward separating families at the border and I really ... I'm so heartbroken," Heather Driscoll of Madison said Tuesday as daughter Emma, 5, and son Evan, 2, played a game of tag in a state Capitol hallway.

Though no one in Walker's office would meet with the group without an appointment, a spokeswoman for Walker said later anyone with concerns about the border policy should contact lawmakers in Congress.

"Wisconsin’s National Guard troops are on administrative assignments, and the cost is being paid for by the federal government," spokeswoman Amy Hasenberg said. "The policy related to individuals seeking asylum is a federal policy, and those with concerns should contact their federal lawmakers."..............................

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has ordered about two dozen National Guard troops to the U.S. border with Mexico.

The announcement was publicized by state military officials June 18, and progressive activists and politicians in the state responded quickly with protests.

“Gov. Walker’s plan to send Wisconsin National Guard members to the southern border is a misuse of state and federal resources and only serves to give President Trump air cover for his outrageous and cruel plan to separate immigrant families,” said U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis., who recently visited the border in Texas.

Walker is following the lead of President Donald Trump, who this spring had directed the Defense Department to support Homeland Security by providing increased border security............................................

93 yr mom. It is a job some days. She is fragile but her mind is mostly ok, But, she is stubborn as an old goat. But I have my garden now and bought a new bike so I go fishing when I know she is down for an afternoon nap. Life is ok. and I hope it is for you also.

I'm glad to be far away from that tragic mess in DC.. but I understand how people don't want to leave their homes where they are "established" and happy!

This is clearly an awful order to receive.
Maybe not technically illegal...
But schockingly immoral nonetheless.

and I don’t use that word lightly. Same for the word “monster”, but there are some real life monsters in the GOP. Some of the absolute worst human beings you could find.

People died during this flooding. Why send those NG members to the border when they could be used at home?

Could it be to impress Trump since so many other governors are defying him and bringing their guards or refusing to send them?
