Rep. Carlos Curbelo, a vulnerable R, told me he was disappointed Trump did not explain why he couldn’t fix the issue himself.
“Yes,” Curbelo said when asked if he was disappointed in Trump not saying why he couldn’t end policy immediately. “We should stop this.”
Multiple Rs said Trump made clear the images of the children at border do not look good.

Rep. Weber: “He said, politically this is bad..he said it’s not about the politics it’s the right thing to do” Rep. Peter King said: “He said that the images .. they look bad, they are bad”

Sanford was savaged in his primary by pro-Trump interests.
Sanford lost and the message is crystal fucking clear - YOU DO AS I SAY....or you join Sanford, period.

so he's totally useless in helping craft a compromise bill. We saw this with health care. We saw this with taxes. Why the hell do the GOPers not remember his uselessness? The worst pundit in the world could have accurately predicted he would contribute zero at this meeting.

Trump's gonna sign whatever they put in front of him, and claim it is whatever he feels like claiming it is, regardless of the reality of the bill or executive order. How do you think we got the policy that's being enacted now?
