Could somebody please tell me if Schumer, Nancy Pelosi et al have held a press conference on the steps of congress about the Trump administration's kidnapping of children and refuting Trump's lies. Unless it wasn't covered, I don't remember any such event.

(30,481 posts)House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Monday called on Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to resign after visiting a federal facility that's being used to detain migrant children separated from their parents under the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy.
Following the tour of a detention center in San Diego, Pelosi and other House Democratic lawmakers held a press conference to describe what they saw and to speak out against the policy, which has led to the separation of thousands of migrant children from their parents.
This is not an immigration issue this is a humanitarian issue. Its about the children, Pelosi said.

(46,076 posts)I'm so sick of the suggestion that Dems are doing nothing or don't display the proper amount of"passion" and other BS.

Glad it was clarified & corrected.
And yes they have, but don't wait for MSM to give attention to it.
You have to look beyond MSM.

(4,111 posts)I wonder how much media coverage that received..

(30,481 posts)Would show you numerous outlets that covered it.
Let me give you a little assistance.
Try simply googling Pelosi Detention Press Conference.
It's beyond simple. That doesn't even really take thought.
Next step, look at the google results.

I no longer believe that people can't use google. I don't expect people to know all of the metrics for a more advanced search but google makes it to where one needs no advanced training.

(7,300 posts)Before we had the internet I always told my children to "look it up" if they asked me how to spell a word. When they asked questions about a particular subject I would give them a brief summary and then tell them to look it up. They would often complain but look it up they did. I made sure of it. Years later they thanked me because they needed the skills of knowing how to do it and where to look.
Now we have computers in our pockets so there is really only one reason not to "look it up".

(6,288 posts)DEMS SEIZE OFFENSIVE ON FAMILY SEPARATION -- Republicans seek legislative fix -- TRUMP ON THE HILL TODAY --
06/19/2018 07:56 AM EDT
By Nolan D. McCaskill (nmccaskill@politico.com or @NolanDMcCaskill)
DEMS UNITE AGAINST TRUMP ON FAMILY SEPARATION -- Democrats are continuing their offensive, attacking the Trump administration for enforcing what theyre calling an evil zero-tolerance policy that rips children away from their families. Rep. Darren Soto (D-Fla.) will hold a news conference this morning with the Rev. Al Sharpton and social justice groups, and Sens. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) will brief reporters this afternoon on their weekend visit to immigration detention facilities in South Texas. The sustained onslaught promises another day of negative headlines, images and sound bites for President Donald Trump and his administration on an issue thats struck an emotional chord with voters like few Washington fights do, and that promises to reverberate as the November midterm elections near, Elana reports from Los Fresnos, Texas.
This is really an evil policy, the typically mild-mannered Merkley said. And no matter how Trump tries to change the topic to something else, it is not OK to hurt children to send a message. And it is not OK to hurt children in order to gain what Trump said was legislative leverage. Indeed, the president continues to falsely blame Democrats for family separations at the border and challenge the minority party to join Republicans at the negotiating table to end a policy the administration could halt itself. If MSM doesn't cover it, doesn't mean there was no press conf.
There is also the Dems ongoing public addressing of the subject including Feinstein's Senate bill

We have a humanitarian crisis going on and it is all on the Rs. Let's keep that in mind.
