(60,010 posts)American soldiers cheerfully carried out orders to shoot any male child over the age of 10.
they did not spend a lot of time asking for ages.
The surviving children were handled exactly as the American Indians were. Children were kidnapped and hauled off
to white man's schools for re-education.
I really recommend The Imperial Cruise, by James Bradley, for a hard look at how racism was practiced by our Govt.
And now a horrible pogrom is being added to the list.

(113,513 posts)General Jacob Hurd Smith (January 29, 1840 March 1, 1918) was a United States Army officer notorious for ordering an indiscriminate retaliatory attack on a group of Filipinos during the PhilippineAmerican War, in which American soldiers killed between 2,500 and 50,000 civilians.[1][2] His orders included, "kill everyone over the age of ten" and make the island "a howling wilderness."[3] Court-martialed for the incident,[1] he was dubbed "Hell Roaring Jake" Smith, "The Monster", and "Howling Jake" by the press as a result.[4]

Remember when that meant something good?
This "MAGA" thing is just SO wrong - and we're watching it happen and we don't have the people to stand up and stop it!!!!!
Come on, DEMS! Yes, you elected representatives of your people. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!
WE need to GOTV - it may be our last chance to save that which we believe TRULY made America great.

Where is the moral outrage from our "leaders?"
Perhaps I've missed something (I've been out of the loop for the past few days) but I'd LOVE to see some major headline that would show some serious outrage being demonstrated by our Democratic leadership - not just a "tweet" or "issued statement" - a serious action taken by our "leaders!"

(24,324 posts)I know many here have been complaining that 'none of out leaders are fighting back,' and such.
And of course you are right, it is not true.
BUT there are 192 Dems in the House and 44 dems and indies in the senate.
Plus state reps plus governors, plus, plus...
In my view they ALL need to speak out in some way..
The country should be flooded with their resistance....

(51,646 posts)I remember when the media clamored to get a shot of 3 loony teabaggers protesting on a street corner. But when tens of thousands showed up a few months ago in my red county, along with local Dem representatives, to protest Trump on the anniversary of the Women's March, it got no attention.
But do people blame the for profit media who likes to run click-bait stories about crazy people, like Shitler? No, they blame Democrats!!!
Many people seem to believe if it's not being covered by the media, it's not happening. That is so wrong.

(16,937 posts)We ARE all fighting for the same thing - an explosion of moral outrage.
I truly appreciate the collection you put together - as I had stated, I've been out of the loop for the past few days - thank you.
But what I'd love to see is an explosion - a massive demonstration - a groundswell of protest against this wholly un-American policy.
We need to take the fight to them - and we need to win.
This is a perfect opportunity - a great place to show moral leadership - and we cannot let the moment pass.

(51,646 posts)Because sane people saying sane things is boring. The for profit media needs train wrecks and click bait. That is why they cover Shitler 24/7.
Yet some choose to blame Democrats and accuse them of not speaking out. They apparently believe if the media is not covering it, it must not be happening.

Good for Feinstein. Now we need every Democratic in the House and Senate to echo her words.
Maybe, just maybe, the vast majority of Americans will "get it" before it's too late.
And if most get it, what's to be done? Whatever is necessary.

(4,407 posts)Points out we have done this a lot in American history; Took slave children and sold them, took American Indian children and sent them to special schools, and etc.
Maybe we need to stop with this rose colored history as well, so that MAGA won't sound so appealing to people. America has always been one of the most racist nations on Earth.
