They'll just denounce snopes as a liberal fake news site.

They have been brainwashed to shut down whenever they hear that name, and refuse to hear any more. They cling to a debunked study saying Snopes is fake.

So, plagiarize. Read the Snopes article and pick out two or three facts that prove something is fake, and make those points in your own words. You can cite the same sources they do. That's usually enough to change minds, as long as they don't know where it came from.

But if you think anyone in Trumplandia is going to believe Snopes, well ... they just don't.

It's unbelievable that we can't even agree that a truly nonpartisan, straight-shooting site like Snopes is indeed that. Trumpistas — and Republicans, in general — believe that everything and everyone has a bias that can't be overcome, and that the world is divided into The Right and The Wrong.

NewsBusters now has its own "Fact Checking the Fact Checkers" site:

"More and more, major news outlets are relying on “fact checkers” to, allegedly, ensure that the news is factual, sources are reliable, and statements are accurate.

"In theory, this is admirable. In practice, it has proven to be simply another opportunity for the media to push their leftist agenda.

"Fact checking groups — such as PolitiFact — routinely cast judgments while failing to disclose their own left-wing bias. Their allies in the media try to cast these groups as neutral third parties when, in fact, they are card-carrying members of the liberal echo chamber."

I fear we're already through the looking glass and may never return to a semblance of reasonable, rational discussion. Everything, including finding the "Right" diaper service or pizza parlor, has become tribalized, politicized and balkanized.

Oy.

"But there is no law that mandates separating children from their parents. Trump’s own administration devised a policy to that effect."

"There is no federal law mandating children and parents be separated at the border; a policy resulting in that outcome was enacted in May 2018."
